Ben Affleck is set to direct and star in the next stand-alone Batman movie and he's now revealed who will be his latest big screen nemesis. The Dark Knight is to face off against DC Comics' Deathstroke in the new movie, which has been co-written by Affleck and Geoff Johns.

Ben AffleckBen Affleck reveals Deathstroke will feature in Batman movie

Earlier this week, Affleck unveil a short clip of someone in a black and orange Deathstroke costume walking menacingly towards the camera through clouds of steam. It seems he was sending out a little hint as to who we can expect to fight Batman in the forthcoming untitled project.

We'd already had our suspicions that Deathstroke might have something to do with the DC films when 'Arrow' creator Marc Guggenheim revealed that he wouldn't make a return to his TV series. 'The character of Slade Wilson is currently tied up in another DC project', he said on Tumblr. 'Walter [Steele] is more likely.'

The Wrap has confirmed the news, revealing that Deathstroke (also known as Slade Wilson and Deathstroke the Terminator) will be the main villain in the new movie, having been a part of the DC universe since 1980. Created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, he is described as a former army colonel turned mercenary and assassin and made his first appearance in 'The New Teen Titans' #2.

The publication also state that the movie is currently under the working title 'The Batman', though this is yet to be confirmed by other sources. What we do know about the new movie is that Affleck and Primetime Emmy nominated 'The Flash' creator Geoff Johns will also be on the production team, and JK Simmons is rumoured to star as Commissioner Gordon.

Before then though, Affleck will appear as Bruce Wayne in 'Justice League' which he is currently filming. The film also stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Ezra Miller as the Flash, and will arrive in cinemas on November 10th 2017.
