Ben Affleck has revealed that his young son Samuel recently had an impromptu playdate with the British royal children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

While in London, the Justice League actor took his four year old son to an indoor play centre, and noticed a few odd things about the place and people in it, as he recounted to chat show host Graham Norton in an episode being broadcast tomorrow evening (November 4th).

“I noticed this weird vibe from the other grownups,” the 44 year old actor remembered. “They were all very well dressed and they had earpieces and I thought, ‘For a kids’ place this is tight security!’ I was the very last person to realize that Prince George and Princess Charlotte were in there playing with my kid!”

Unfortunately, as often happens when a number of small children congregate in one place, a case of the sniffles soon developed. “I can now tell Sam that he got a cold from the King of England!”

Affleck, who is promoting his new movie The Accountant in Britain ahead of its cinematic release, took his two older children, daughters Violet (10) and Seraphina (7), around the English capital to “see all the sights”, but didn’t end up seeing any royals – at least where he might have expected to see them. Particularly at the changing of the guards, which didn’t go as planned.

“Now if it was in America - and I hate to admit this - you’d get a VIP pass. You’d get backstage and they would accommodate you. So I got a tour guide thinking this guy will accommodate me but that wasn’t the case!

“He took us to the middle of the street but we were so far away not only couldn’t we see the guard, we couldn’t see the fence! We were surrounded by 50,000 tourists looking for selfie opportunities and we never saw the guards change! It was a disaster!”
