The actor says Snyder had done a lot of work before exiting the film.
Coming to cinemas a little later this month, 'Justice League' will see Batman and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) team up on the big screen with the likes of Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller), along with the widely-rumoured and pretty-much-confirmed but not officially Superman (Henry Cavill). They'll be forced to come together despite their differences, working alongside one another if they're to stop Steppenwolf from destroying the planet with his army of Parademons whilst searching for a trio of Mother Boxes.
Ezra Miller, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot as Flash, Batman and Wonder Woman in 'Justice League'
Though director Zack Snyder had to exit the 'Justice League' movie late, due to a family tragedy, Batman actor Ben Affleck says that his stamp on the film is something that still resonates despite Joss Whedon stepping in to pick up the reins.
Speaking in London for a 'Justice League' press junket, the actor explained: "The movie is Zack’s DNA. He cast the movie, designed the movie. There’s something I think people don’t understand who don’t actually work on movies, which is how much work is done in prep. How much, you know, the casting, the sets get built, the story was written, the ship is, in essence, sailing. I’ve found as a director you can maybe 10 percent, 15 percent or something on the day, so you really have Zack’s ship set sail with us and we were fortunate that when Zack was not able to continue we got really lucky in that we got a guy who’s very accomplished in his own right, and particularly in this genre, and he kind of sprinkled some of his fairy dust on our movie and finished it. I don’t think there’s any way to go back to look and say ‘That’s a Joss scene’ or ‘that’s a Zack scene.’ It was more they were working together toward a common goal even better than I would certainly, but I get a sense that Joss was working from what he had discussed with Zack before he stepped in."
It's great to know that Snyder's work wasn't completely tossed out following his exit from the film, and even better for fans to know that discussions were had with Whedon so that the original plan for the movie could be executed fully, despite Snyder not being there.
Whether or not it's something that resonates with audiences remains to be seen, but we imagine with all of the big names involved, 'Justice League' is going to be a major box office success.
