Late Beatles star George Harrison's childhood home is to be auctioned for upwards of $160,000 (£100,000).

The three-bedroom terraced council house on Upton Green in Liverpool was the guitarist's home throughout the 1950s.

The property is to be sold to the highest bidder at the fabled Cavern Club on 20 October (14) as part of a Countrywide Property Auctions event. The company also handled the sale of one of John Lennon's pads.

Meanwhile, the childhood homes of Lennon and Sir Paul MCCartney in Liverpool have been acquired by the National Trust as heritage sites.
