‘Down By Law’ is an infectious track full of funk and head nodding hip hop beats to get those headbangers bouncing. It’s got attitude and it’s broody. Lyrically it’s not as raw or dangerous like the Wu or Mobb Deep. The MC’s seem to have been influenced by Jurassic 5 even though they have blended this with a Kool Keith edge. This is even more apparent with ‘Blind Driver’. The music on this is cool. It’s got that 80’s electro twang with a futuristic hip hop sound and is attempting to get into that street culture. I think this single is creative
and fairly interesting. It could be edgier and definitive. They are experimenting and tying new things it just I think the MC’s are not working as well on this music as they could. There needs to be more personality in the vocals to make it work with the music. Not bad though.
