When Barbara Walters asked Chris Christie if his weight would prevent him from running for president, he answered the question in his usual smooth manner. Walters was interviewing the Republican politician for her ’10 Most Fascinating People’ episode when she questioned whether or not Christie’s weight would prevent him from running for President.

Christie’s terse response came: “That’s ridiculous. I mean, that’s ridiculous. I don’t know what the basis for that is.” He also told Walters “I’ve done this job pretty well. I think people watched me for the last number of weeks during Hurricane Sandy doing 18-hour days and getting back up the next day and still being just as effective in the job, so I don’t think that will be a problem.” Admittedly, Walters did start the question by admitting that she felt uncomfortable asking it and you’ve got to wonder whether she’d have been as comfortable / uncomfortable asking a female politician such a question.

Barbara’s question to Christie about his weight wasn’t the only dubious interview moment in he episode, either; she also saw fit to ask Hilary Clinton about her hair… something that didn’t go down too well with Hilary and forced Walters to add “nobody asks the men that.” No Barbara, they don’t. Maybe stick to politics next time, yeah?

Watch that awkward moment for yourself...
