The hitmakers closed out their 50-year career at Soldier Field on America's Independence Day weekend with many celebrities including Katy Perry, John Mayer, Woody Harrelson and Chloe Sevigny in the audience to show their support.
On Friday (03Jul15), President Obama paid tribute to the rockers, who played a show in support of his 2008 campaign.
He wrote, "Here's to fifty years of The Grateful Dead, an iconic American band that embodies the creativity, passion, and ability to bring people together that makes American music so great.
"Enjoy this weekend's celebration of your fans and legacy. And as (late frontman) Jerry (Garcia) would say, 'Let there be songs to fill the air.'"
The group's Fare Thee Well shows come to a close on Sunday (05Jul15).
