Despite announcing their break-up only last month, former married couple Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger are apparently back in the studio together working on new music.

E! Online reported on that, although they had gone their separate ways in September, the pair were writing together and working in the studio again. Over the weekend Lavigne, 31, posted a picture on herself on Instagram wearing a cowboy hot and playing an acoustic guitar, with the caption: “YeeHaw! Writing with Chad today.”

A second picture then appeared, of Nickelback singer Kroeger, 40, playing another guitar, with the caption “Back where it all started” – a reference to the way that the pair met when Lavigne arranged to write songs with Kroeger in the summer of 2012.

The pair co-wrote and sung Lavigne’s 2013 single ‘Let Me Go’. They were married in July 2013, but they were soon faced with the challenge of Lavigne falling seriously ill with Lyme disease later that year. She revealed the following year that she had spent five months bed-ridden while recovering from the condition.

Lavigne’s fans were delighted to see that the former couple were still on amicable terms. “It's so good to know you're still friends,” one follower wrote, with another added, “Yes ya'll seem well suited for each other.”

She and Kroeger announced their split at the beginning of August. She announced via her Instagram page: “Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we've created many unforgettable moments. We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other. To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support.”
