Aston Merrygold has signed a solo record deal.

The former JLS singer took to Instagram last night (23.09.14) to announce that he will be going alone after penning a contract with Warner Bros. Music.

Alongside a collage of pictures of him sealing the deal and celebrating, he wrote: ''Someone once told me enjoy every minute of it... I've known this day was coming for over a week and been fine, driven, motivated.. READY to just get working asap!

''But I've not actually sat back n enjoyed the thought of being signed to a record label on my own.. (sic).''

The 26-year-old hunk refused to give up on his music career following the split of the band - also consisting of J.B. Gill, Marvin Humes and Oritsé Williams - last year and is determined to grab every opportunity that comes his way in order to fulfil his long-time ''dream.''

He added: ''I was lucky enough to be apart of what I think is one of the best boy bands this country has ever produced! The best fans, the best team, the best band mates/brothers hands down!

''But I've had a dream since I was young watching my idols do there thing, there way and how they wanted and I can't believe I get a shot at that.. (sic)''

Aston finished off the post by telling fans that his journey as a solo artist will be filled with tears and laughter but will be well worth it in the end.

He said: ''I'm going to give you ALL I got! I feel so blessed to be in this position and I'm not going to waste it!!!!!! Get ready it's going to be a bumpy, but fun as hell ride! (sic).''
