Ashlee Simpson is an American singer/songwriter and actress who had her own reality television show. She is the younger sister of singer/songwriter and actress Jessica Simpson.

Childhood: Ashlee Simpson was born to Tina Ann and Joe Truett Simpson in Waco, Texas. At the age of three, Simpson began learning ballet. Ashley attended the same schools as her older sister, Jessica. These were Prairie Creek Elementary and Richardson North Junior High as well as enrolling at the School of American Ballet in New York City in 1995. In 1999, she and her family relocated to California to help Jessica's singing career.
Career: After Jessica Simpsons' successful debut album, Ashlee was inspired to try herself. She recorded a song called 'Christmas Past, Present and Future', which was released on the 2002 collaborative album, 'School's Out! Christmas'. In 2003, she released the song 'Just Let Me Cry' which was used on the soundtrack for the film, 'Freaky Friday'. Following these releases, she was signed with the record label, Geffen Records. Again, the album debuted at number one and sold 944,000 copies in the US by 2008. The albums' lead single, 'Boyfriend', reached number 19 on Billboard's Hot 100 list. In the same year, she began a tour and appeared on Saturday Night Live to promote her album. Following a busy work schedule, Simpson collapsed while performing in Japan and was sent to hospital for a time. She released a third album, 'Bittersweet World', in 2008. Like the previous album, Simpson stated that it was inspired by 80s pop music, while also evoking more of a rock feeling than her previous albums. 'Bittersweet World' peaked at number four on Billboard's Hot 200 list. In 2011, Simpson confirmed that she was working on a fourth album. The following year, she released a preview for the song 'Bat for a Heart' and the single was released in November, 2012.
Personal Life: In 2006, Simpson began dating Pete Wentz - the bassist for Fall Out Boy - and the couple were engaged in 2008. They were married later that year, and she announced that she was pregnant two weeks later. The couple's son, Bronx, was born in November, 2008. In 2011, Simpson filed for divorce and it was finalised by the end of the year. During the separation period, Simpson dated actor Vincent Piazza, although they broke up in the same month as the divorce finalisation. She moved on to date the actor Evan Ross, son of Diana Ross, in July, 2013. The couple became engaged in January 2014, and were married in August of the same year.
