Rapper Young Jeezy was arrested last week on numerous charges stemming from an incident with his son. But if the story ends up being true, the arrest comes late in the game.

The Atlanta rapper, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, turned himself in on charges that include making terroristic threats, false imprisonment and battery, according to the Associated Press. The Fulton County sheriff wouldn't say more about the case, but Vibe said the charges come from an incident where he allegedly beat his son before threatening to kill him.

The son told deputies that his father choked him and then said, "I will put a bullet in your head right now. If I could get away with it, I would kill you."

Young Jeezy's past has been littered with rumors of violence, but he has never been in trouble like this.

The warrant for Jenkins was issued by a grand jury, but the alleged incident reportedly happened all the way back in 2012. His attorney released a statement to Vibe, saying "Jay Jenkins, better known as rapper Young Jeezy, was recently made aware of charges in Atlanta, Georgia. Contrary to reports, Mr. Jenkins presented himself to address these charges. We have no doubt this matter will resolve itself appropriately. At this moment, Mr. Jenkins is thankful for the support of his fans and the respect for his family's privacy."

Jeezy was given a $45,000 bond, which he paid soon after being arrested. He is due in court next on Jan. 29.
