American pop-singer Miley Cyrus once again was the most talked about act at an MTV award show.

The 20 year-old caused controversy at the 2013 MTV EMA awards, which were held in Amsterdam.

It seemed Miley wanted to experience some of what Amsterdam has to offer, and since marijuana is legal over there, the former Disney star decided to smoke a joint live onstage.

Cyrus was walking towards the microphone to collect her 'Best Video' award for the track 'Wrecking Ball' when she pulled out a joint, lit it, and began to take a lengthy toke.

The 'Bangerz' hit maker doesn't care what her critic's think, which will be growing in numbers after this stunt, as she posted the following on twitter;

"Sometimes in life you just gotta decide to not give AF."

Well, at least she clearly explained her reasons for doing it.

MTV were left at a crossroads, no doubt they would garner more ratings if they broadcasted the pot-smoking saga, but with that, will come a lot more criticism.

The television network decided to edit it out of the final cut and the 'Parents Television Council' were more than happy with their decision.

"Last night MTV made a responsible decision and they executed it perfectly," PTC president, Tim Winter, said.

"It is unclear whether MTV's actions suggest stricter content guidelines for its TV-14 programming, or whether this is just an example of the old saying that 'even a broken clock is right twice each day.' We certainly hope it is the former. We applaud MTV for taking responsible actions to eliminate the drug use from its U.S. broadcast, and we urge them to make that a uniform policy for all of its programming."

Cyrus's next live performance will be at the American Music Awards on November 24th, all eyes will be on the 'We Can't Stop' singer to see what shocking stunt she will do next!
