Miley Cyrus is about to cover a song by one of the most respected musical acts ever. The 21 year-old will join American rockers The Flaming Lips to cover The Beatles track ‘Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.’

News first broke of their collaboration after Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne posted an Instagram photo on Friday (March 14th), of Cyrus rolling a joint, with custom ‘Bangerz’ paper, in a recording studio.

The caption for the snap read, “Yup...... Recordin with Miley... High as f**k...."

On Sunday (March 16th), Coyn posted another photograph of Cyrus in the recording studio, singing the track and gave a few more details about their most recent collaboration.

“Miley in the studio vomiting diamonds while singing Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds!!” the caption says. “If you're a Beatles and John Lennon freak you gonna love love love this track!! Got Andrew from MGMT too!!!!”

This isn’t the first time The Flaming Lips and the former Disney teen star have sang with each other.

Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd joined Cyrus onstage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles last month, which was part of her ‘Bangerz’ tour, and performed Flaming Lips’ 2002 song "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Part 1."

There is no word yet as to why the two musical acts recorded a Beatles cover, but it is unlikely to be released by Cyrus as she is currently on her ‘Bangerz’ tour which I sin support of her album with the same name, and it was only released last October (2013).

The Flaming Lips haven’t released a studio album in almost a year, ‘The Terror’ hit the stores in April last year. Therefore, the recent recording session is most likely for their benefit.
