Jessie J, Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande should be celebrating this week after their single ‘Bang Bang’ took the UK number one spot on Sunday (September 28th). Last week’s number one, Sigma’s ‘Changing’, which features vocals from Paloma Faith, was knocked just one place, down to the number two spot.

‘Bang Bang’ marks the first time rapper Nicki Minaj has found herself in the number one spot in the UK No 1, having previously managed to make it to number two. For Jessie J, the only British artist of the trio, ‘Bang Bang’ is her third UK number one while Grande’s ‘Problem’ made it to the top spot earlier this year.

But this week's chart marked a milestone in the UK for another reason, as Meghan Trainor became the first artist to enter the top 40 without selling a single record. Trainor’s ‘All About That Bass’ entered at number 33 based solely on digital streaming, it is not technically released in the UK until next week. It’s the first time this has happened since the charts were adjusted in July to take streaming service such as Spotify into account.
