In a statement issued on their website on Wednesday (3rd September), the Guinness World Records explained how Lawrence's role as Katniss Everdeen in the extremely popular and profitable Hunger Games film franchise had landed her the title of highest-grossing action movie heroine. The first two films in the franchise had made $1.52 billion (£928 million) around the world.

The Hunger Games also broke another World record as The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is the highest-grossing post-apocalypse movie. The movie was released last year and earned $420 million (£255 million) in the US alone. Worldwide the film made $854 million (£519 million).

With the hype building for the next instalment in The Hunger Games franchise, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1, it is likely Lawrence will retain this record for some time. Mockingjay -Part 1 is due to be released in the UK and US on 21st November 2014. The upcoming film will see Katniss removed from District 1's dominion and into District 13, an area of Panem which is striving for freedom. Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) is unfortunately still in the clutches of President Snow (Donald Sutherland).

Lawrence has recently made headlines for another reason and one she'd soon rather forget. The 24-year-old actress, along with numerous other celebrities, was hacked and pictures of her naked were posted online. Many have condemned the hacker, including Lena Dunham, and stated the hacker's crime is akin to sexual assault. Others, evidently far more unpleasant individuals, have gleefully searched online for the images and shared them on social media.

The images appeared on Sunday (31st August) and the widespread horror at the invasion of privacy, and Lawrence's own appeals according to People, have caused the FBI to launch an investigation attempting to find the hacker and bring him to justice.
