Warner Bros., DC's parent company, have not yet commented on the muscle-bound star's remarks, but this isn't the first time he has hinted about being part of the production.

"There's a character out there that we're gonna announce very soon that I'm gonna play, and I'll just say this - it's the power of Superman," Johnson told Total Film magazine last month. "This character has the power of Superman, he can throw down - just say the word, that's all I'm gonna say."

A few days later, Johnson tweeted a photograph of Superman, Shazam and Black Adam, with the caption, "Someone's gonna get it."

Shazam, which was created in 1939, is the alter ego of Billy Batson who was bestowed with the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles and the speed of Mercury by saying the word "Shazam."
