David Cassidy has now earned a hat-trick in DUI charges after been arrested for alleged drunk driving on Friday (Jan 10th).

The 63 year-old singer was pulled over by police in Los Angeles on Friday night after making an illegal right turn, TMZ reports.

David was just exiting 405 freeway when law enforcers spotted him making a right turn on a red light onto a surface street.

He disobeyed a white and black regulatory sign which instructed, "No Right Turn On Red."

According to the gossip site, the police who pulled his vehicle over could clearly smell and odour of alcohol while approaching him.

They then asked Cassidy to perform a field sobriety test and a breathalyser test in which he failed.

The former teen idol was very intoxicated after allegedly blowing .19 which is more than twice over the legal limit.

In California the legal limit is 0.08 per cent.

The LAPD immediately arrested Cassidy and charged him with his third driving under the influence offence, and was released hours later on $15,000 bail.

He was the only person in the car.

The 'Partridge Family' star was last arrested for the same offence only this past August (2013) in New York.

David was spotted in just outside of Albany, NY, in the early morning hours, with his headlights unnecessarily on at full beam, when he was pulled over by a passing on-duty police officer, who noticed a distinct whiff of alcohol emanating from the car and Mr Cassidy's mouth.

He was charged with a DUI after failing a sobriety test and was later release on $2,500 bail.
