The 35 year-old British actor is reportedly the television network's first choice to replace the departing Ferguson.
CBS have reportedly found a replacement for Craig Ferguson to host the 'Late Late Show,' and their pick is British actor James Corden. The 35 year-old TV personality is likely to begin emceeing the late night talk-show once Ferguson leaves this coming Christmas, The Wrap reports.
Corden is reportedly being targeted by CBS
Corden's successful career took off when he co-created the award-winning British series 'Gavin & Stacy,' he also starred as Paul Potts 2013's 'One Chance,' and can be currently seen alongside Keira Knightley in 'Begin Again.'

This will not be the first time Corden has hosted a show, he has taken the helm of the British game show 'A League of their Own' for seven seasons, debuting in 2010.
Ferguson, who began working on the 'Late Late Show' in 2005, announced that he will be departing from CBS in April, noting his current contract will expire in December 2014 after a ten year-run.
"CBS and I are not getting divorced, we are 'consciously uncoupling,' but we will still spend holidays together and share custody of the fake horse and robot skeleton, both of whom we love very much," the 51 year-old said in a statement, poking fun at Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin's separation statement from March.

"During his 10 years as host, Craig has elevated CBS to new creative and competitive heights at 12:30," CBS president Nina Tassler added in a statement. "He infused the broadcast with tremendous energy, unique comedy, insightful interviews and some of the most heartfelt monologues seen on television."
Ferguson will leave hosting 'Late Late Show' in December 2014
Although Corden isn't a recognizable name in the U.S., his notoriety in the U.K. could be enough for CBS to seriously consider him for the role, which airs in the 12:35 am time slot. The television network nor the BAFTA-winning star have commented on this speculation as of yet.
