LATEST: Celebrities and politicians paid tribute to legendary producer Arif Mardin when he was laid to rest in Istanbul, Turkey, yesterday (05JUL06). Mardin passed away at his New York City home from pancreatic cancer last month (25JUN06). He was 74. Mardin established his reputation at Atlantic Records, where he worked as a producer and arranger from 1963 to 2001 with artists including Aretha Franklin, David Bowie and Diana Ross. THE Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb said at the Tesvikiye Mosque, "The music industry has lost a great person. He was a gentleman."
