Soul Legend Aretha Franklin Has Axed Two Upcoming Shows In Oklahoma Amid Fears She Would Not Be Able To Cope With The Gruelling Travel Schedule.
The veteran singer had been due to perform in Durant and Tulsa in October (15), but the 73 year old, who travels via tour bus because she is afraid of flying, is convinced the long drive to Oklahoma would be too much for her.
She says in a statement, "After such a long, 4,200 mile drive to the West Coast in July, I'm not prepared to drive as far west so soon again. I am so sorry to have to disappoint my fans there, but I will reschedule."
Franklin is set to continue with her other dates, including a performance for Pope Francis in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 26 September (15).
