Amy Schumer has called for a “public outcry” on gun violence, encouraging people who want to see an end to the kind of mass shootings that make it into national headlines to join the campaign she’s conducting with her cousin, Senator Chuck Schumer.

The 34 year old comedian and actor initially launched the campaign back in August in the aftermath of the deadly shooting that occurred in Lafayette, Louisiana during a day-time screening of her recent movie Trainwreck. During a press conference on Sunday (October 25th) in New York City, she joined forces with her political relative once more to urge Americans to use all possible means to end gun violence, according to the Associated Press.

Amy Schumer has been so high-profile in 2015 that she has perhaps sometimes risked overexposure, but the star herself says that the backlash actually began a long time ago, revealing that she’s been receiving death threats ever since the start of her career.

“I've already gotten a lot of death threats for about eight years… the backlash has already started,” the stand-up comic and Trainwreck actor said last night at the Elle Women in Hollywood gala. “I've been getting backlash since 2006. I've been getting death threats.”

“I know everybody is sick of me and I need to be treated for overexposure,” she said jokingly, but added defiantly “I'm not going to stop. Gloria Steinem said to me that the most important thing is don't burn out. She said we want change so quickly that it could feel discouraging.”

Amy Schumer made her ‘Saturday Night Live’ hosting debut last night (October 10th), and as you can probably imagine no one was safe. But topping the comedian’s target list were Kim Kardashian and her family, actor Bradley Cooper and America’s gun enthusiasts.

Following her successful night at the Emmys last weekend, Amy Schumer has yet another reason to celebrate with the news that she’s tied up a seven-figure publishing deal for her first book, ‘The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo’.

The collection of amusing memoirs, covering her childhood, family, comedy style and political outlook, was first reported by Entertainment Weekly to have attracted a winning bid of between $8 million to $10 million. This was officially confirmed by Gallery Books publisher Jennifer Bergstrom as being a $9 million advance on Wednesday evening (September 23rd).

Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence’s epic friendship continues. The two friends were videoed dancing on top of a piano at a Billy Joel concert in Chicago on Thursday (27th August). The two came out during Joel’s encore and jumped on the piano during his rendition of ‘Uptown Girl’. The news broke this week that Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer are 100 pages into writing a comedy screenplay together, and that they plan to play sisters in the movie. "Amy and I were creatively made for each other," Lawrence says. "We have different flavours. It's been the most fun experience of my life."

It was only a month ago on The Daily Show that Schumer told Jon Stewart about the friendship, which started when Lawrence sent an email to Schumer after seeing her movie Trainwreck. Lawrence laughs about that message. "I said, 'I guess I should just say it: I'm in love with you,'" she explains. "We started emailing, and then emailing turned to texting. We really hit it off, to say the least."

Over a year after the horrific car crash that severely injured him and killed his friend and fellow comedian James McNair, Tracy Morgan is due to make his big return to TV by hosting an episode of ‘Saturday Night Live’ in October.

The ’30 Rock’ star and former ‘SNL’ cast member will be hosting the show for the second time in his career on Saturday October 17th, the third show of the upcoming 41st season. The NBC show confirmed the news via its official Twitter feed on Monday (August 17th), also stating that Miley Cyrus and the in-demand comedienne Amy Schumer would also be hosting the first two episodes.

Amy Schumer’s holiday fun continues. This time, the 34-year-old comedienne shared a short video of herself on Instagram dancing to the Backstreet Boys’ ‘As Long As You Love Me’. As he enters the final week of his 16 year long tenure as host of ‘The Daily Show’, Jon Stewart has revealed the three guests he’ll be inviting onto the show before the final episode next Thursday, details of which remain shrouded in secrecy.

CNN Money reports that Louis C.K., Denis Leary and Amy Schumer – all friends of the departing host – will be appearing on Monday through Wednesday next week before the very last Stewart-fronted edition on August 6th. Schumer, of course, was recently revealed as one of the names Stewart was interested this year to replace him on the Comedy Central chat show, though she turned it down. Current cast member Trevor Noah has already been named as Stewart's successor.

Amy Schumer’s Star Wars themed GQ shoot was not approved by Lucasfilm. Schumer featured on the cover of GQ’s August edition in a shoot she designed herself. She was pictured in suggestive poses with robots C-3PO and R2-D2, can-can dancing with Storm troopers and partying in a bar with some beloved Star Wars characters. Some Star Wars fans took to Twitter to express their distaste and Lucasfilm was forced to reply, confirming they had nothing to do with the shoot.
