We were just about due for another Fey/Poehler collaboration.
Some great news to get you through the hump today: Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are teaming up again in the big screen comedy The Nest. The comedy pair have worked together on various projects since the SNL days and are now taking the next logical step in their partnership – playing on-screen sisters. Poehler is in final negotiations with Universal, while Fey has officially signed on along with Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore. according to THR.
Fey and Poehler last teamed up to host the Golden Globes.
With a script by Paula Pell, the film tells the story of two 30-something sisters who come home to find their parents’ house has been put up for sale and then spend a last wild weekend together. It’s Pell’s feature film screenwriting debut. However, her connection to the comedy duo goes back a few years. Pell executive produced Universal’s This Is 40, as well as writing for Saturday Night Live.
Both have been working on multiple projects this year.
Both lead actresses are highly involved with the project – Fey is producing through her Little Stranger banner, while Poehler has an executive producer credit. Erik Baiers and Chloe Yellin are overseeing The Nest for the studio. No release date has been announced yet, but this project is definitely one to watch. Are you looking forward to seeing the queens of comedy reunited on the big screen?
