The ‘Sisters’ star says women in comedy are still getting paid less than their male counterparts.
As one of the most successful women in comedy Tina Fey is among the most recognisable funny ladies on the planet. But even with her success the comedian thinks it’s still a ‘terrible time’ for women in comedy, because despite all the amazing work they do, they're still getting paid less than male stars.

The former ‘SNL’ cast members were on hosting duty this time and they brought back a few familiar faces.
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were back together on ‘Saturday Night Live’ this weekend, hosting the show’s annual festive episode. The Sisters' stars' return to the series had us all excited for weeks and these two definitely didn’t disappoint and what’s better is, they even brought back Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin!
Amy Poehler and Tina Fey hosted ‘SNL’ together on Saturday night.
It felt like 2008 again during one sketch as the current Hillary Clinton (Kate McKinnon) had a dream in which she’s visited by her past self (played by Poehler). Past Hillary had plenty of advice for her current self as she prepares to try and make her White House dreams come true.
In their new film Sisters, long-time best pals Tina Fey and Amy Poehler finally get a chance to play siblings.
"I think our shorthand that we have with each other makes it easier," says Fey. "Neither of us has a sister, we both have brothers." "I'm personally a little obsessed with sisters," chimes in Poehler. "They are exotic creatures to me. I love being around them and watching them interact. It's like a special language. I think that Tina and I are chosen sisters, so I think it's been fun to experience that thing I never got to experience in real life. We have a moment in the film where we first see each other and just pick on each other like apes. We find that physicalness can be really sisterly - very specific to that relationship."
In addition to the sister thing, both actresses enjoyed playing with their public personas. "There's a moment," says Poehler, "where Tina's character Kate decides for once 'I'm going to be responsible for tonight' and my character Maura decides 'I'm going to really let loose'. So it's like everybody's wish fulfilment in the film. Everybody gets to be the person they didn't get to be."

From their inspired pairing on Saturday Night Live and their hysterical 2008 comedy Baby Mama to their riotous hosting of the Golden Globes, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are one of the funniest double-acts in recent memory. So even if they make a film as limp as this one, it's still packed with plenty of laughs. With a simplistic premise and obvious gags, the film isn't nearly as clever as they are. But they make it watchable.
As the title suggests, they play siblings: Kate (Fey) is a single mother with no job and nowhere to live, while Maura (Poehler) has never quite recovered from her divorce. Then their parents (Dianne Wiest and James Brolin) announce that they're selling the family home in Orlando, so Kate and Maura return to clean out their childhood bedrooms. And they're inspired to throw one last epic house party, inviting all of their old high school friends (including John Leguizamo), their school arch-nemesis (Maya Rudolph), a beefy drug dealer (John Cena) and a cute new neighbour (Ike Barinholtz).
Unsurprisingly, once the alcohol starts flowing, things get way out of hand.

The ‘Sisters’ actress stopped by 'The Tonight Show' on Wednesday to reveal a few truths.
Sisters star Amy Poehler joined Jimmy Fallon on 'The Tonight Show', Wednesday evening, for a revealing little game named ‘Truth or Truth’. During the game, Poehler hilariously revealed her biggest fear, as well as letting us hear what her real voice sounds like.
Amy Poehler joined Jimmy Fallon for a game of ‘Truth or Truth’ on Wednesday.
“Now, Amy, I consider you a very honest person,” Fallon told his guest. “We're both honest people. I want to know who's more honest...You're up first, Amsters. What's it going to be: truth or truth?” After pausing for effect, Poehler of course answered ‘truth’ and the game began.
These are the ladies that have made us laugh this year.
The world is well and truly over the times when comedy used to be a male-centred entertainment faction. Nowawdays, it's the ladies of laughter keeping the smiles on our faces with the likes of heavenly duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, and of course the iconically hilarious Amy Schumer.
So here's a little tribute to 10 comediennes of the world as 2016 approaches, and we hope to see a lot more of these ladies in the coming months.
Amy Poehler was the star of 'Parks and Recreation'
The Golden Globes presenters are teaming up once more for the season finale of 'SNL' on December 19th.
‘Saturday Night Live’ alumni Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will be co-hosting an upcoming episode of the long-running NBC sketch series, which will also feature musical guest Bruce Springsteen, it was announced on Tuesday (November 17th).
Comedy actors Fey, 45, and Poehler, 44, have gained a strong reputation for presenting, putting their tag-team style to great use at the Golden Globe Awards for the last three years in a row, a run ending with this year’s ceremony – the next presenter being Ricky Gervais.

The hit comedy starring Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer will return for a third season, Comedy Central announces before second season premiere.
A matter of hours before its second season was due to premiere, ‘Broad City’ has received some more good news. Comedy Central, the network that airs the hit comedy, has decided to renew it for a third season.
Ten more episodes have been commissioned by the network, presumably due to arrive in early 2016, which along with the success of ‘Inside Amy Schumer’ demonstrates its commitment to bringing through new female talent alongside the established male talent that appeals to Comedy Central’s core viewership.

Hollywood better get its thick skin on this Sunday.
So, Bill Cosby jokes – too soon? Or are they getting old now? Well, as far as Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are concerned, it’s neither, so the comedic duo will not hesitate to poke fun at the disgraced sitcom star. Not to worry though – this is feminist powerhouses Fey and Poehler here, so we’ll likely be spared the cringe-worthy rape jokes.
Is nothing sacred? Nope, not at the Golden Globes.
Meanwhile, get ready to hear a lot of Cliff Huxtable jokes or something. We’re sure the duo will find some way to make this terrible, horrible, depressing year of awfulness suck a little bit less.

Tina Fey. Amy Poehler. Golden Globes promo. Have I piqued your interest yet? The comedians just released the very first promo leading into Globes season and it is the. Best. Poehler and Fey ask each other the age-old, most hated question at award shows – who will you be wearing?
NBC have found a team that works. So why fix something that's not broken?
The answers aren’t quite what you’d expect. Or maybe they are, actually, if you’ve been following these ladies’ careers closely.

Her parents have decided to move from their home in the Midwest, all the way to San Francisco after her father finds his career leading him to the city. It's not easy getting used to calling somewhere else home, nor is it to change schools, make new friends and fit in with a neighbourhood, so it's unsurprising there's a whirlwind of emotions going on in her head. Those emotions? They are Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness and they are not making life easy for Riley. Living in the Headquarters of her brain, they are forever arguing about how best to deal with Riley's situation, and while Joy is trying to make the best of what has happened, the others aren't so forthcoming.

Sofia Vergara is easily the highest paid star in television, earning $37 million last year.
Who said cutthroat corridors of U.S television was a man's world? Sofia Vergara has proved that the era of the disgustingly high-paid leading man (Laurie, Sheen) may well be over, by not only topping the highest paid TV actress list for a tired consecutive , but taking the top-spot overall.

The actress earned $37 million last year, that's some $11 million more than the top-earning TV actor Ashton Kutcher. The Colombian-born star earns a reported $325,000 per episode for 'Modern Family' - way off the reported $1 million per episode deal that Kaley Cuoco signed on 'The Big Bang Theory' - but Vergara's earnings come from endorsements and licensing deals with Diet Pepsi, CoverGirl, Head & Shoulders, AT&T and Synthroid. As Forbes note, the actress is also the co-founder of Latin World Entertainment - a huge multi-million dollar episode.

We were just about due for another Fey/Poehler collaboration.

Poehler is in final negotiations with Universal, while Fey has officially signed on along with Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore. according to THR.

You could say "Late Night" was off to a slow start in comparison, but that might just be how Meyers works.
It looks like Seth Meyers is going for the “start slow and build up from there” approach with his move to Late Night – that’s if his first show is any indication, at least. Taking over from Fallon, who started his Tonight Show run with a rooftop performance by U2 and more celebrity cameos than we could count last week, Meyers struck a completely different note. His hosting style seems to be much more about sharp one liners and crisp delivery, than anything else, really. He did mimic Fallon in one respect though – Meyers used the long-running Late Night segment “Thank You Notes” to send his predecessor a message of gratitude. Seated at his desk, Meyers wrote a letter to Jimmy Fallon, promising to treat Late Night "with respect and dignity and to only use it to do completely original comedy pieces … starting now.” Ha.
Meyers' first Late Night set a completely different tone.
His guests for the night were carefully chosen, obviously to pay homage to Meyers’ SNL roots. For his first guest, Meyers welcomed "Parks and Recreation" star Amy Poehler. Friends since they both joined the cast of "SNL" in 2001, the two shared an easy rapport. Poehler had nothing but encouragement for her former colleague. Mostly.
Meyers will replace Jimmy Fallon as the host of Late Night.
This week’s Saturday Night Live was hosted by Melissa McCarthy and featured some great sketches with her, but it was really Seth Meyers who stole the show. And rightfully so – it was Meyers’ last episode at the Weekend Update desk. Joined by former SNL co-stars Bill Hader (as Stefon) and Amy Poehler, Meyers was given a proper Weekend Update sendoff.
Seth Meyers said "so long" to SNL and moved on to greener pastures (and a premium time slot.)
Meyers is moving on to the next step of his career – replacing Jimmy Fallon as the host of Late Night – but that doesn’t mean there weren’t some emotional goodbyes. "This is the job I always wanted, and I had the best time," Meyers said in lieu of a witty closing line at the end of his last Weekend Update.
The network has been very vague in regards to what shows are being given another season and which aren't
NBC have teased at what shows they are due to renew and which they are likely to drop from their schedules at the TCA press tour this weekend. Given how vague the network executives were at the press meeting, we can't exactly confirm anything, but what we can say is that Parks & Recreation will more than likely be getting a seventh season, everything else might not be so lucky.
Star Amy Poehler and the rest of her Parks & Rec. castmates celebrate the show's 100th episode
“I’m going out on a limb: Parks and Recreation is going to have a 7th season,” was the word of the NBC's entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt at the TCA event, giving the closest thing to a solid confirmation regarding the future of a NBC show. The only other shows that held a similar kind of certainty were two popular comedies: Parenthood and Community.
The comic and actress loved her 'Elle' cover, and is a little hurt with the criticism
When Elle presented their four-cover edition of their latest edition, their 'Women in TV' issue, it featured four of the most prominent female TV stars working today. Among the four was The Mindy Project star Mindy Kaling, whose cover caused an unwarranted amount of controversy and conversation over how the majority of her body was cropped out of the cover image, unlike the other, mostly full-body other three.
Mindy outside the Ed Sullivan Theatre before appearing on Letterman
White, skinny actresses Allison Williams, Amy Poehler and Zooey Deschanel all feature from the knee up and in full colour on their respective cover photos for the February issue of the magazine, whereas Kaling's image is in black and white and her picture is much more close up than the rest, with her chest, face and one arm only seen in the picture. For some, this looked way too suspicious to be a coincidence and the online crusaders stood up for Kaling in their droves. Trouble is, Kaling didn't really want standing up for and the arguments her so-called supporters were crusading for were actually a little hurtful.

The NBC vehicle is a joint effort from Fey, Ellie Kemper and producer Robert Carlock
Tina Fey has been handed a follow-up series to 30 Rock, with NBC handing her a deal to begin working on an all new series alongside her 30 Rock co-producer Robert Carlock. The comedy pairing have been handed a 13-episode straight-to-series order for a whole new premise, one that stars The Office actress Ellie Kemper.
Kemper (L) will star in the upcoming Tina Fey (R) series
The show, which is currently untitled still, follows Kemper as she frees herself a doomsday cult and begins life anew in New York City. The series falls in line with Fey's four year contract with Universal Television (who are producing) and will be co-written and run by Fey and Carlock, with the pair also serving as executive producers. Fey's long-time manager David Miner will also serve as an executive producer, and Little Stranger will be producing the series alongside Universal.
The comediennes will return to hosting duties for at least the next two years.
Television comedy supremoes Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have signed up to host the annual Golden Globe Awards not just next year, but the year after that too, announces The Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The talented duo hosted the 2013 Golden Globe Awards to much acclaim and calls for the SNL alumni to be given another shot at hosting.
Tina & Amy Proved A Popular Choice This Year.
Their popularity at this year's awards is a key factor cited in the ceremony's ratings success with the biggest Golden Globes ratings in six years in both the 18-49 demographic and total viewers, meaning the show was also the second highest-rated Golden Globes in nine years.

Fey and Poehler will return for the 2014 Golden Globes, but Fey doesn't fancy an Oscars gig.
According to popular opinion, the powerhouse comedy duo of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey did a fantastic job of hosting the Golden Globes. Fortunately the women, who coined the lyrics “I dreamed a dream of dadada/And then I went to make a sandwich” and the “Neil Patrick Harris, take off your pants!” sketch, have been approached for another turn at the event and have even been invited back for a third time in 2015, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The ladies will be back at the 2014 and 2015 Golden Globes.
As for hosting the Oscars, however, that’s a whole other story. In a recent interview, Fey spoke about what is arguably the biggest, most publicized award show in the business, to the effect that she and Poehler would not be interested due to the more restrictive nature of the Oscars. It is a widely known fact that the Golden Globes give their hosts, as well as the writers, a higher degree of creative freedom. In fact, for the 2013 Golden Globe, Fey and Poehler brought in a team of writers and actors, who made the entire affair resemble a Saturday Night Live reunion, enlisting Seth Meyers, writer Robert Carlock (who also worked with Fey as showrunner on "30 Rock") and "Saturday Night Live" producer Mike Shoemaker for help.
Could anyone else live up to Fey and Poehler other than... Fey and Poehler?
Two of the biggest voices in modern comedy have landed another two slots at one of the biggest award ceremonies in the business. Having successfully helmed the Golden Globes, Tina Fey and are set to do it again, and again!
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have enjoyed a fruitful comedy partnership
"Tina and Amy are two of the most talented comedic writer/performers in our business and they were a major reason the Golden Globes was the most entertaining awards show of last season," said Paul Telegdy, president, Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC Entertainment. "We're elated they wanted to host together again and that they committed for the next two years."
Tina Fey parodied her Emmys nip-slip.
It's always hard to walk away from a blunder with your head held high and laughing but that's what comedienne Tina Fey has had to do after she revealed a little more cleavage than she would have liked on Sunday night's Emmys. Wearing a cerulean-blue halterneck dress, Tina's looked one of the more secure dresses in an evening of strapless, backless, thigh-split, keyhole numbers.
Good Old Tina, She Could Teach Us A Thing Or Two About Dealing With Embarrassment.
In an evening spent bantering with Emmy host Neil Patrick Harris whilst wearing 3-D glasses and eating popcorn, Tina's little...slip was just another humorous incident. And we're not talking about her and Amy Poehler's stumble up the stairs on their way to present the award for best "Supporting Actress in a Comedy."

NPH's opening speech definitely held a few surprises, but not from whom you'd expect.
The Emmys came and went and brought with them a plethora of funny, embarrassing and just plain meh moments. Neil Patrick Harris’ opening speech never fails to win a few laughs, as it did again this time, but it was really the golden duo – Tina Fey and Amy Poehler – who stole the show. About five minutes into Harris’ speech, Poehler and Fey, clearly inspired by recent events at the VMAs began hollering at the host. But of course, the bit – hilarious in our humble opinion - didn’t come without some proper build-up.
Though the stage was populated by men, it was the ladies who mostly dominated the opening bit.
Two things became clear during Harris’ showdown with a flock of past Emmy presenters – Jane Lynch, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and of course, the omniscient Conan O’Brian. Number one: in 2013 more than ever, broadcast television has some major competition in the media landscape and two: everyone is perfectly aware. While the presenters battled it out on stage, in the audience, Kevin Spacey turned to the camera for his own nefarious monologue.
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were ready to give their advice to the Emmy awards show host as they heckled Neil Patrick Harris to 'twerk' like Miley Cyrus.
The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards came and went and the best crop of television talent have left the Nokia Theatre, and will be eager to find the best Emmy -after party Los Anglees has to offer. But what was the award ceremony like this year?
The host, Neil Patrick Harrris started off slightly sluggish and according to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, it needed something else, it needed twerking! From the front row, the two female comedians were heard shouting at Harris during his chaotic opening sequence, to start performing a 'twerk', the dance made famous by Miley Cyrus's infamous MTV Video Music Award performance.
Whilst seated at the front row wearing 3D glasses and eating a rather large bag of popcorn, both Fey and Peohler butted in on how they thought he could improve the show.
The SNL star married his long-time lover in a romantic island ceremony.

'Free Birds' could follow 'Despicable Me 2' and 'Monster's University' as big animated movies in 2013.
The trailer for Free Birds, Jimmy Hayward's animated adventure movie, rolled out online this week. It stars Reggie the Thanksgiving turkey (Owen Wilson) who fails to convince his dumb feathered friends that they're being fattened up for the approaching festival feast, alienating himself from the group.
However, things begin to look up when he is rescued by the President and begins a new life of eating pizza at his cool new pad. When militant turkey Jake (Woody Harrelson) shows up, Reggie's new life of peace is put on the backburner in favour of a death-defying mission to go back in time and scratch out the traditional festive dinner from history. It sounds mental. It kind of is a bit mental, but it's sure to be plenty of fun for kids and families this Christmas.

However, things are looking up when he is rescued by the President and even enjoys nibbling on pizza late at night in his luxurious new home. But when militant turkey Jake shows up, it's clear that he's not destined for a life of peace as he is enlisted on a death-defying mission to go back in time to the first thanksgiving and scratch out the traditional festive dinner and save the lives of thousands of their kind.
Directed by Jimmy Hayward ('Horton Hears a Who!', 'Jonah Hex'), this hilarious animated adventure has a star-studded cast that will keep everyone - both adult and child - in rib-cracking hysterics long after it hits screens. It has been written by Hayward, Scott Mosier ('Clerks: The Animated Series'), David I. Stern ('Open Season 2') and John J. Strauss ('There's Something About Mary', 'The Santa Clause 2') and will arrive just in time for thanksgiving to perhaps persuade you to go vegetarian this holiday season. Watch it as it hits theatres in the UK on November 29th 2013.
Ron Burgundy, Brian Fantana, Brick Tamland and Champ Kind have now hit the eighties and things are a little different. The legendary San Diego news anchors are now embarking on a different project, as part of a 24 hour news channel, but now they have fresh competition in the form of a young, handsome and well-dressed fellow anchor. Ron continues to put himself in sticky situations, this time involving some awkward racism with his new girlfriend's family during a social occasion among many other things. Will their antics extend beyond their previous capers involving angry bears and mean bikers? Or will the eighties bring with it a more streetwise news bunch? We doubt the latter.
The sequel to 2004's 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy' is set to hit our screens soon entitled 'Anchorman: The Legend Continues'. We'll likely be seeing yet more hijinks from one of Hollywood's favourite comedy casts as they return following at massive $85 million gross from the original movie. Produced again by Judd Apatow ('The 40 Year Old Virgin', 'Knocked Up', 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall'), Adam McKay ('Step Brothers', 'The Other Guys', 'Talladega Nights') also makes a return as director and co-writer alongside Will Ferrell. It is scheduled for release in the UK on December 20th 2013.
Ron Burgundy, Brian Fantana, Brick Tamland and Champ Kind return in this hilarious sequel to 2004's 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy' which saw Ron land himself a hot girlfriend, get attacked by a bear and have his dog thrown over a bridge by an angry biker. The legendary San Diego news anchors are doubtlessly set to entertain us with more news casting exploits which, according to the latest teaser trailer, will involve 'submachine guns and boobies' and getting 'stinky'. One thing's for sure, it's going to be funnier, weirder and much ruder.

Drake is reportedly the latest actor to join the star-studded cast.
As the excitement builds for the Anchorman sequel Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, another trailer for the film was released. You can check out the second trailer, featuring the beloved cast of Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Vince Vaughn and Steve Carell. But we already knew they were in it and, exciting as that prospect is, the cameos, which have been announced recently, make this movie look even better. Viewers will get appearances by actors like Kanye West, Kristen Wiig, Amy Poehler, Jim Carrey, Tina Fey and Harrison Ford, New York Daily News reports.
And the cameos just keep coming. After Kanye West, busy as he is, wrapped his scenes in New York last week, there was another surprising appearance on set – namely an actor, sporting a fro and the appropriate 70s duds, who looked suspiciously like singer/rapper Drake. Apparently the "Take Care" performer will be the latest star in the constellation already appearing in this film. Not only that, but the Daily News also posted several pictures of stars Will Ferrell and Christina Applegate taken during shooting. They look fierce, they look ready to go, but most of all, they look, unsurprisingly, very 70s. And if nothing else, the stills make it obvious that Anchorman 2 will definitely feature some excellent hairdos.
Parks and Recreation wrapped up its fifth season this way, though there's as yet no word on a sixth installment.
Parks and Recreation wrapped up its fifth season on Thursday evening (May 2, 2013) with many speculating that the episode was a series finale given Fox and CBS have already renewed their veteran shows for the 2013-2014 season. It's true that NBC appears to be dragging its feet over 'Parks' and the network brought back dramas such as Parenthood, Grimm and Revolution last month, but don't despair, Parks and Recreation will be back for a sixth season.
The New York Magazine's Vulture blog has outlined the whole thing pretty nicely, claiming sources inside and outside of the network say the show is guaranteed to return for another patch of episodes. In line with NBC's other comedy standards, Parks and Recreations is actually doing pretty well. In fact, only The Office is pulling in better numbers (and that closes up shop this month). Parks has a better rating among adults under 50 than Matthew Perry's Go On (which could get the chop this month) and that has the benefit of following the top rated The Voice.
Vulture also spoke to several agents and network insiders this week, who all said Parks is "very likely to be back." Deadline.com - who are almost always spot on with renewals - are talking of season six as if it's a done deal. The website said a new batch of episodes was "assured."

Lena Dunham landed a place in the Icons category for her comedy show 'Girls' which has won her a Golden Globe. Usually poking fun or messing around with her buddy Tina Fey, Amy Poehler uses her Ask Amy series – posted on YouTube – to discuss some of the more serious matters in life. This week, she tackles Millie’s question on popular videos.
"I've been thinking about what these images do to our brains and to our heart and how we should look at them, and when we should look at them," she tells Millie. "What do I want my eye to see? How can I keep myself informed and connected without exploiting people and harming myself?" Nowadays, disasters are reaching an unprecedented level of coverage, given the accessibility of new media technologies. The meteorite in Russia was the most-videoed aerial even t in history, as they all have cameras on their dashboards over there. "It's been tough, hasn't it?” Poehler continues. “Doesn't it feel like we're just bombarded with stuff now? That everywhere we go there's just some picture that's worse than the one before?" "It's okay not to be looking at what everyone else is looking at all the time, and be okay with letting some things rest in peace," she concludes.
After three years of Ricky Gervais’ grim humor and cold-hearted mickey-taking, the Golden Globes were desperate for a change and former 'Saturday Night Live' partners Fey and Poehler gave them a positive one, dispensing with the jibes but doing so in a good-natured way that quickly got the crowd on side. So, in spite of them quipping “as Ricky found the hard way, when you fall afoul of the Hollywood Foreign Press, they make you host the show two more times”, it looks like they could well be back next year. The pair roasted Zero Dark Thirty director Kathryn Bigelow, Taylor Swift and Daniel Day-Lewis during their opening speech, but their jokes were taken in good spirit by the three, and the consensus would appear to be that they should come back.
However, according to The Sun Times, there may be one person who could replace them should their schedules not permit their return: Sacha Baron Cohen. “He’s edgy, he’s very funny and he’s a Brit. Seems perfect for the Hollywood Foreign Press,” said an insider who worked with the actor on The Dictator last year. “I hope they get Tina and Amy back, but Sacha wouldn’t be a bad substitute.”
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler host the Golden Globes on Sunday (January 13, 2013) and will no doubt bring a touch of Saturday Night Live to one of Hollywood's glitziest evenings. The close friends decided to host the event because - according to Fey - it's "a very kind of sloppy, loud party, and that seemed like our kind of thing." Indeed, it's going to be so sloppy that the hosts have devised their very own drinking game for Sunday drinkers to enjoy.
The Globes is traditionally more raucous than the Oscars. Basically, the organizers want to invite the most famous people available, stick them into a room together and ply them with champagne. Things happen. Mickey Rourke usually gives something his middle finger, Ricky Gervais makes an inappropriate joke as Johnny Depp looks on disapprovingly, despite being in on the joke. Anyway, Fey and Poehler are of the opinion that if they can have a party, then so can we! The pair explained the rules of their drinking game while in conversation with the Hollywood Reporter. So here goes:

In the wake of the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, a number of Hollywood celebrities have banded together to create the “Demand a Plan” video, which urges politicians to take decisive action against gun violence and the public to demand said action from their representatives.
The video for demand a plan features a number of A-listers, including Beyonce Knowles, Amy Poehler, John Hamm, Elen DeGeneres and Reese Witherspoon among many others. The video is part of a larger effort to bring about increased gun control in the US. Another part of the campaign is a petition, available to sign at demandaplan.com, which demands the imposition of a criminal background check for every gun, sold in America, a total ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, as well as the criminalization of gun trafficking.
Among those advocating the changes is actor Jamie Foxx, who has recently been very vocal with his opinions about violence and the media’s influence. All of this will come into play in the heated debate for and against increased gun regulation, with the other key player in all this being the now infamous NRA or National Rifle Association, advocating for the right to bear arms as a “means of self defense” and constitutional right. The association hasn’t clarified what kind of situation warrants the use of assault rifles. President Obama is yet to take any stance on the matter, despite continued appeals from both sides of the debate.

Being dropped from the Golden Globes can't be a nice feeling, especially for a British male, in favour of two American women, whose nationality and gender were already somewhat of a threat. So, it was in maintaining a stiff upper lip (retaining those age old British traditions) that Ricky Gervais gave a statement to EW, saying: “Good luck to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler at the Golden Globes. After failing three years in a row to make E! Channel's Best Dressed list, I decided to hand over the reins.”
Gervais had hosted the Golden Globes, one of the biggest film award ceremonies in the U.S. However, while his acerbic and astute wit delighted his British audience, often his humour was just a little too far for the Americans who were sometimes merely rendered mute in confusion, or, worst case scenario: really rather offended. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will hopefully not quite make the same mistakes. Everyone speaking on behalf of the Fey/Poehler choices cites “unparalleled comedic timing.” But it seems the choice of Fey and Poehler for 2013 is just as excellent comedic timing, as their role in the Golden Globes is almost a perfect match against Seth MacFarlane as the host for the Oscars just three days after the Golden Globes.
Gervais offered up jokes about scientology in case the girls have some problem with that 'impeccable comedic timing', but he did well not to give advice on their red carpet attire. Clearly he's the first to admit it's not his domain. The Golden Globes will be awarded January 13th 2013.
Takla-O'Reilly, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, is (obviously) happy with the decision: "The unparalleled comedic timing of Tina and Amy will surely have viewers wanting to tune-in to see them in action," she said. "The HFPA is thrilled to have the magnetic duo be a part of the show's 70th anniversary!" Sure, fine; they’ll be nice and funny, and they won’t offend anyone. But that’s what we’ll miss. Ricky Gervais’ confident, and biting style has become infamous, and it’s something the ceremony will really miss. A classic Golden Ricky Globe was: “Looking at all the wonderful faces here today reminds me of the great work that’s been done this year… by cosmetic surgeons,” he said, to a room of awkward laughter. Perhaps one of his most controversial jokes, though, was this: “I hope I haven’t offended anyone. It’s not my fault [points at his drink]. I like a drink as much as the next man. Unless the next man is Mel Gibson.” Ouch! We thank the Independent for reminding us of those.
"Having both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on board to host this year's festivities is a major coup," said Paul Telegdy, president of alternative and late night programming at NBC. "Tina and Amy have a proven chemistry and comedic timing from their many years together on 'SNL' to their successful co-starring roles in 'Baby Mama.'" At least they think dropping The Office star was a good idea. The Globes are set to air Jan. 13, three days before the Oscars.
Amber Tamblyn's dress was the real star of the show as the American actress and poet tied the knot with comedian and actor David Cross at a wonderful looking ceremony at the weekend. There was no press photography there, but who needs them when you've got DJ and music producer Questlove around to go snap-happy for you. The 41 year-old couldn't seem to help himself and on his Instagram, among other photos, there are a couple of glorious pictures of Tamblyn looking resplendent in a bright yellow, non-traditional dress.
In a classy looking location - pictures show Tamblyn stepping out of a boat with a lake and a lush-looking wood behind it - the couple were wedded with others in attendance including recently married Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively (also snapped by the ever reliable Questlove), whilst E! Online reports that Tamblyn's other 'Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pants' co-stars America Ferrera and Alexis Bledel were also there, as was Amy Poehler, who recently split from her husband Will Arnett. American rock band Yo La Tengo provided the music.
Questlove really got pretty close up to the bride and groom, with one very intimate shot showing the moment when the pair of them cut the cake. With a man like him around, the paparazzi should be looking over their shoulders.
Dave (Lee) takes all six mischievous Chipmunks on a cruise-ship holiday before their big performance at the International Music Awards. Of course, Alvin (Long) is immediately in trouble, taking his pals Simon and Theodore (Bugler and McCartney) and the Chipettes (Poehler, Applegate and Faris) with him. But Alvin's next stunt strands them all on a deserted island, including Dave and former manager Ian (Cross). On the island they meet treasure-hunting nutcase castaway Zoe (Slate), just as a volcano is about to blow.

Comprised of dueling acoustic guitarists Jack Black and Kyle Gass, the D fills albums with harmonious and ridiculously clever odes to their own awesomeness. Their rock operas would make excellent B-sides for Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell album. Indeed, the band belongs on a triple bill with '70s monsters of melodic metal Black Sabbath and Queen.

It begins with two working stiffs, Tim (Ben Stiller) and Nick (Jack Black) plodding their lives away at a 3M facility. By-the-book Tim is creeping into middle management while dreamer Nick wallows on the factory floor concocting wacky ideas for useless products. All of that changes when one of Nick's hare-brained schemes, a spray that dissolves dog excrement called Vapoorize (No. Stop. I think I'm gonna bust a gut.), pans out and makes millions.

Even if you have not yet tired of the eye-bugging, eyebrow-dancing, class-clown schtick of Jack Black or the eye-bugging, eyebrow-dancing, fretful straight-man schtick of Ben Stiller, the first collaboration between these two one-trick ponies is still unlikely to draw a single laugh for its slapdash story of one-dimensional "Envy" run amok.
The pair star as K-Mart-class stiffs in the sandpaper trade who are best pals and neighbors in an under-the-power-lines cul-de-sac of the San Fernando 'burbs. A fusspot pragmatic by temperament, Stiller slowly turns bitter green when Black -- a wild-eyed daydreamer full of half-baked inventions and get-rich-quick schemes -- gets rich quick by helping conceive an aerosol spray that makes pet poop evaporate.
Soon Stiller and family (Rachel Weisz is wasted in a do-nothing role as his wife) are living across the street from the gaudy uber-mansion that replaced Black's tract home, complete with a carousel on the grounds and Corinthian-styled stables for a white horse that's always getting loose and nibbling on their apple tree. When jealous Stiller accidentally kills the horse in a midnight fit of drunken archery (Black's yard also boasts a bow-and-arrow target range), he tries to hide the body with the help of a weird hobo (Christopher Walken), and hilarity is supposed to ensue.
