Michael Barrymore To Return To ITV After 16 Years

Barrymore will be fronting a documentary about the late comedian Larry Grayson at Easter on ITV3.
16 years after he was sensationally dropped from the network, Michael Barrymore is to make his return to ITV later in a few weeks’ time.
The 65 year old presenter, who was axed from the broadcaster in 2002 in the aftermath of the death of Stuart Lubbock in his swimming pool at his home in Essex the previous year, will be appearing in an ITV3 documentary being broadcast at Easter about the late comedian Larry Grayson, for whom he was a warm-up act on ‘The Generation Game’ when Grayson replaced Bruce Forsyth as presenter in 1978.
“He had an amazing career out of just being Larry Grayson,” he says on the programme, titled ‘Shut That Door’.

Michael Barrymore Wins Damages Claim Against Essex Police

Barrymore filed a lawsuit claiming £2.4 million in damages for his 2007 wrongful arrest by police over the death of Stuart Lubbock.
A high court judge has ruled that former entertainer Michael Barrymore is entitled to more than nominal damages from Essex Police over the wrongful arrest which the star says destroyed his career more than a decade ago.
Mr Justice Stuart-Smith ruled on Friday morning (August 18th) that the defendant in the case, the chief constable of Essex Police, “has failed to prove that, if not arrested unlawfully as he was, Mr Parker could and would have been arrested lawfully,” adding that Barrymore “is entitled to recover more than nominal damages.”
65 year old Barrymore, who brought the lawsuit under his real name of Michael Ciaran Parker, values his claim at £2.4 million. While the judge did not specify the amount he should get, as the hearing only dealt with the preliminary issue of the level of damages to be awarded, this represents a significant victory in Barrymore’s claim.

Michael Barrymore Launches Wrongful Arrest Lawsuit Against Police

Barrymore's lawyers argue the former TV presenter is entitled to £2.5 million in damages from Essex Police regarding the wrongful arrest in 2007 over the death of Stuart Lubbock.
Former TV entertainer Michael Barrymore deserves substantial damages from police for being wrongfully arrested ten years ago, which caused his career to be “destroyed”, his lawyer has told the High Court.
Barrymore, 65, was arrested and detained back in June 2007 on suspicion of the rape and murder of 31 year old Stuart Lubbock, who was found dead in the swimming pool at the entertainer’s home in Roydon six years previously.
Post-mortem tests in 2001 found that Lubbock had suffered severe internal injuries indicating sexual assault, and his bloodstream contained ecstasy, cocaine and alcohol. Six years later, the emergence of new evidence caused police to arrest Barrymore and two other men, who were later released without charge. The arrest was since admitted as wrongful, and Barrymore is suing Essex Police for £2.5 million.

Michael Barrymore works three days a week at the garden centre.
Capping off his remarkable fall from grace, Michael Barrymore now works part-time at a garden centre in Brentwood, Essex. Yes, Brentwood, Essex of The Only Way Is Essex fame. The 60-year-old Strike It Lucky host can be regularly seen stacking shelves and wheeling around barrows full of muck, though he doesn't ask for a dime in return from the Tomlins centre.
"I don't get paid for it. I help out because I enjoy gardening," he told a stunned shopper, according to the Daily Mirror, "People come over and wish me well. Sometimes I walk around with them to show them the plants. I stack the shelves, and often I'm wheeling around heavy sacks of compost." The comedian works at the outlet three days a week and has become something of an attraction for local shoppers, helping them with what to look out for and checking stock levels.
Barrymore had a reasonably successful career in television before it all came to an abrupt end when the body of 31-year-old Stuart Lubbock was found in the star's swimming pool. Lubbock died during a party in March, while Barrymore was placed at the centre of the police investigation though charges were never brought against anyone attending the bash.
