Dan Auerbach - Waiting On A Song Video Video

  • 19 May 2017

The video for Dan Auerbach's new single 'Waiting On A Song' harks back to high school memories in what is almost an ode to Richard Linklater / John Hughes of coming of age style of film making. The story follows a group of boys at the start of their final summer together before they head off for college and decide to make it a holiday to remember by hanging out, having fun, getting stoned, partying and hopefully winning the affections of a girl or two. Not only does Dan make a small cameo appearance, the songs co-writers John Prine and Pat McLaughlin also have small parts as well as a number of Nashville songwriters including Luke Dick and Michael Heeney.

The song itself is a very classic composition, and pays tribute 'to the great tradition of Nashville songwriters' - a theme that's continued throughout Auerbach's latest solo album which also features the same title as this new single.

Speaking about the album, Dan remarked how his current home of Nashville has really made a huge imprint on his writing style: "Living in Nashville has definitely changed the way I think about music and the way that I record it. I didn't have all of these resources before. I am working with some of the greatest musicians that ever lived."

It's been eight years since Auerbach's released a solo album and from the tracks we've heard so far 'Waiting On A Song' could be some of his strongest work to date. The album will be released June 2nd 2017 through Easy Eye Sound.

Dan has also that he will be the support act for John Prine for four gigs in September and October.
