Céline Dion will be returning to Las Vegas to resume her residency. The 46-year-old singer will be back on stage at Caesars Palace Colosseum in August, a year after she announced she was taking time off, with a new show. Dion has expressed her excitement at returning to the stage and explained how she draws great comfort from her fans and from performing.

"It is very emotional for me and I'm anticipating the emotions to grow even more as the date gets closer," Dion said of returning to performing after her hiatus.

"It's very touching [the reaction from fans]," Dion told People. "Every night is a new show. I promise there will be high, happy notes."

Dion announced last year she would be taking time off to spend more time with her family. Her husband and former manager, 73-year-old René Angélil, has been battling with cancer for a number of years. Angélil had a tumour removed from his throat in 2013, at around the same time Dion was also dealing with throat problems.

Dion announced her main reason for leaving the residency was to care for René. "I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband's healing, and to do so, it's important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children," Dion said at the time, as E! reports.

The couple have been married for 21 years and have three children together: a son aged 14 and twins, aged 4.
