In the future, Elizabeth Shaw leads a team of explorers into the furthest reaches of the universe, in order to discover the origins of human life. Things turn disastrous when they end up stranded on a distant planet. What the explorers discover could not only answer the question of how humans came to be but could also bring about our destruction.

Prometheus is directed and produced by Ridley Scott, a renowned director well known for the Alien movies. There has been a lot of speculation surrounding this highly anticipated movie and its relation to the successful franchise which starred Sigourney Weaver. While many have said that Prometheus is a prequel to Alien, others have argued that it is a reboot of the series. However, Scott has announced that while Prometheus is set firmly in the Alien universe, the film itself is an original piece.

Swedish actress Noomi Rapace stars as heroine Elizabeth Shaw. Noomi is well known for playing Lisbeth Salander in the original The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She co-stars alongside Charlize Theron, who plays Meredith Vickers. In a recent interview, Charlize has stated that her character is a villain. Prometheus has a release date of June 2012.
