The Amazing Kreskin - Movie Review

Rating: 3 out of 5

Mentalist Kreskin gives us about an hour an a half of his trademark work from the New York Friar's Club -- the amazing, legendary, famous Friar's Club as he invariably refers to it. But most of the film is not his mental feats of "picking up thoughts" from the small audience ("I'm getting a 'J'... does that mean anything to anyone in the house?"). Rather, the bulk of this rather slapdash DVD is Kreskin revealing how various parlor tricks are performed -- from making cards rise to the top of the deck to making a table levitate. Toward the end of the video, when Kreskin is busting out the ancient pendulum-can-tell-if-you're-lying trick and doing tricks with the aid of an accomplice in the audience, the act gets a little tiresome. Kreskin fans will enjoy the inside look at some of his easiest stunts, as well as anyone who wants to see the sight of an old man giggling uncontrollably.
