The Sum Of All Fears
Phil Alden Robinson Interview PHIL ALDEN ROBINSON (Director) received an Oscar nomination for Best Screenplay Adaptation for “Field of Dreams,” which he also directed. The film garnered many other accolades including an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture, as well as nominations for both Directors Guild and Writers Guild awards. His additional feature credits include writer/director of “In the Mood,” director and co-writer of “Sneakers” and writer of “All of Me.” In addition, Robinson directed the first episode of HBO’s “Band of Brothers.”

In 2000, Robinson directed, co-wrote and executive produced the made-for-TV movie, “Freedom Song.” Acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, it was nominated for two Emmy Awards, a Writers Guild Award for Best TV Movie, three NAACP Image Awards and the Humanitas Prize, among others.

In 1992, he accompanied the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (as an observer) on relief missions to Somalia and Bosnia, and later wrote and directed his first of five documentaries for ABC News “Nightline” about the experience. His latest documentary, “Sarajevo Spring,” was nominated for a News and Documentary Emmy Award in 1997.

A native of Long Beach, New York, Robinson graduated from Union College in Schenectady, New York, with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. And in 1996, the college presented him with an Honorary Doctorate of Letters.
