John Cale's new single, 'Catastrofuk', is taken from his brand new EP, 'Extra Playful', which is available on 12'', on CD and as a digital download now, through Domino Records. His next studio album, also his 16th, is expected to be released in spring 2012. It will follow on from his last album, 'blackAcetate', which was released in 2005.

The video for Catastrofuk was directed by John's daughter, Eden Cale. John, seen here as an astronaut, arrives on a planet not dissimilar to our Moon, where he comes across a variety of weird yet wonderful characters, such as three young children enjoying a tea party. Yet, the surreal video works well with the classic rock sound of John Cale's song.

John Cale is widely known to audiences for his collaborations and work with artists such as Manic Street Preachers, Brian Eno and Happy Mondays. He also founded The Velvet Underground alongside Lou Reed. He was awarded an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in 2010.
