The Bang Bang Club was founded in South Africa, during the troubled Apartheid period but came to prominence in the years 1990-1994. The 'club' featured many photojournalists who were active before the fall of Apartheid but focuses in particular on four: Kevin Carter; Greg Marinovich; Ken Oosterbroik and Joao Silva, who often went to extremes to capture their award-winning photographs.

The Bang Bang Club editor, Robin, made sure their harrowing pictures were seen around the world; in particular, the famous award-winning 'vulture' picture, taken by Kevin, of a vulture in Sudan which landed near a young, starving girl, the picture was taken a year before Kevin killed himself in 1994.

Other striking photos include a shot depicting Coverage of African National Congress members brutally murdering someone who they believed to be a spy, taken by Greg Marinovich and coverage of a clash between peacekeepers and the African National Congress, taken by Ken Oosterbroik just minutes before he died in friendly-fire.

Based on true events, The Bang Bang Club documents the final days of Apartheid through the eyes of four brave yet reckless photographers.
