The small town of Bodeen, Texas doesn't exactly have a lot to offer teenagers and Bliss Cavendar is just one of the many girls trying to find their own way and a route out of the town and into city life. Bliss's mom means well but her idea of success is for Bliss to become Miss Blue Bonnet Pageant winner. When Bliss and her best friend Pash take a trip to Austin, Bliss thinks she's found her calling, The Roller Derby is the exact thing she's been looking for. Knowing her mother would be far from impressed if she announced her new calling, Bliss starts to lead a double life, by day she's a normal student and works at her local diner but at night, her alter ego Babe Ruthless is fast becoming one of the best skaters on their team.

As time goes on, it's only a matter of time before her mother finds out her new hobby. Bliss must find a way to take control of her life and find her own path.
