The actor’s lawyer had asked a judge to compel Heard to be deposed on Friday (July 10).
A judge has denied a request by Johnny Depp's lawyer to depose Amber Heard and her neighbour Raquel Pennington on Friday, a week ahead of a scheduled court hearing to determine whether to extend the temporary restraining order issued against Depp.
Amber Heard was not deposed on Friday, despite a request by Johnny Depp’s lawyer.
On May 27th, Heard was granted a temporary domestic violence restraining order against Depp and the hearing on June 17 will determine if it will be extended. But Depp’s lawyer Laura Wasser had filed a request to compel Heard's deposition immediately, which has been denied by a judge.
According to sources and court documents obtained by People the Court denied the motion, because the original notice of deposition had failed to give Heard the required 10-day notice. "Respondent's request to take deposition of [Heard] is denied, as the request was untimely noticed," the judge stated.

Wasser had also asked for Heard to provide all of her communications including writing, documents and from December 15 to present, including those with her friend iO Tillet Wright. "Amber has not been given sufficient time to locate the requested documents," Heard's attorney Samantha Spector stated.
"The request requires Amber to review over six months of personal communications with potentially every person she has spoken with, to search for any passing reference to the incidents in question. This is unduly burdensome."

Spector also argued that there is also “no need for [Heard's] deposition" since she provided a full testimony when she filed for the temporary restraining order against Depp on May 27. Heard was reportedly unavailable to be deposed on Friday because she was on her way to Pennington's engagement party in New Jersey.
On Friday Depp’s lawyer also told the court that Heard had “tried her claims in the media.” “She refuses to produce documents that supposedly support her allegations and she refuses to answer questions under oath.” Wasser told the court in documents. “Amber has tried her claims in the media. It is now time for her to do so in a court of law.”
