Amanda Seyfried isn't a fan of selfies.

The 29-year-old American actress - who starred in 'Mean Girls' and 'Ted 2' - has revealed she's flummoxed by people taking photographs of themselves using a mobile phone.

She said: ''I mean, do we hate ourselves so much that we have to take a photo of ourselves when we look nice?''

The Hollywood beauty, who has a million Instagram followers, also admitted that she finds the concept of social media to be ''depressing''.

She told the Sunday Times newspaper: ''If you star in a show with a big obsessive teen audience, you'll get millions of teen followers, but no one else will have heard of you.

''So it doesn't translate to pop-culture. But for people in other areas of the industry, yes, it's seen as validation. It's so depressing, it's not progress, is it?''

Meanwhile, Amanda has argued cannabis should be legalised.

The blonde actress - who does not smoke the drug herself - said: ''I think it's a wonderful thing, and lots of people use it responsibly, and it should be legal.''
