Actress Alyssa Milano has spoken out against those who have criticised her for sharing photos of herself breastfeeding her children. The actress has made headlines in the past for posting images of herself breastfeeding her daughter Elizabella to Instagram and says that she finds the mentally of some towards breastfeeding to be ‘anarchic’.

"It's so crazy to me how the mentality is so archaic where people are just not comfortable with women breastfeeding," she said during an appearance on Huff Post Live on Wednesday.

"Obviously it's because we've sexualized breasts to the point where people can't see past them being breasts or boobies or titties or whatever you want to call them.”

Milano was also a guest on ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ earlier in the week, where she engaged in a debate with the host on the same subject matter. Williams told the actress that ‘she does not need to see that’ when discussing the pictures of Milano breastfeeding her daughter, adding: “Breastfeeding is only a particular amount of time. The rest of your life, your breasts are sexual things.”

But Milano disagreed, telling the host "But biologically, they're not made for sexual things. "That's what we've done to them.” Along with 16-month-old daughter Elizabella, Milano and her husband David Bugliari are also parents to four-year-old son Milo.

Earlier this year Milano also spoke to People magazine about being an advocate for breastfeeding mothers saying she’s received support from others for being so outspoken on the subject.

“I think that breastfeeding moms feel like what they do needs to be hidden, or not feel like they’re getting the appreciation that comes along with being a breastfeeding mom, and it meant something that someone was being vocal,” she told the magazine.

“When I post pictures of me breastfeeding Bella, it’s not that I’m trying to be very outspoken about breastfeeding, it’s that it’s a very special moment in my life. What [other people] take from that is a whole other thing. Support from not only breastfeeding moms, but moms everywhere, has been really powerful and really overwhelming.”
