Alison Sweeney has been an integral part of the soap opera 'Days of our Lives' for the past two decades but now it is time for her character, 'Sami Brady', to exit the show.
The 37 year-old has portrayed this role since 1993 and is well-known for her children, multiple failed relationships and her troublesome and selfish attitude.
Without a doubt 'Days of our Lives' made Sweeney one of daytime television's most recognisable faces, and in an appearance on the 'Ellen DeGeneres Show', the LA native revealed why show is walking away after 21 years.
"I've been on Days of Our Lives for 21 years. I'm celebrating my 21st year and I decided that it's going to be my last year with the show," Sweeney told Ellen on Tuesday (Jan 21st).
"I've been on Days of Our Lives since I was 16-years-old, and I have never had more than a two-week vacation in that whole time. It's awesome. I love Sami, I love Salem, I love my job, I love daytime, I love the fans-I love everything about it."
It is even more impressive how the mother of two has managed to balance two jobs for the last seven years, she has worked as the host for NBC's 'The Biggest Loser' since 2007.

However, Sweeney is now excited to spend more downtime with her family, as she said, "My daughter just turned 5 and my son is 9, and I just want to be with them and enjoy my last year. I'm going to be on Days all this year."
Adding, "We don't have a specific time yet, but I'm going to be on all this year and we'll see what happens."
After serving over 20 years on the show it is only right 'Sami' leaves in style, but how would the Daytime Emmy-Award winner like her character, who viewers 'love to hate', leave?
"It would be awesome to have some kind of happy ending, but then I also think Sami probably deserves some sort of very twisted like Breaking Bad ending, I don't know," she said.
Sweeney also commented that the writers "have amazing imaginations and Sami has certainly caused he fair share of drama over the last 21 years. It will be 22 and I don't even know what happens next. I'm so, like, flustered."
Sweeney will be leaving the show after this year
