The world of 'X-Men' is one that has been brought to the big screen via various iterations for many years. Showing no signs of slowing down, fans are currently gearing up for the release of 'X-Men: Dark Phoenix', which will follow Jean Grey's (Sophie Turner) story and include a bunch of fan-favourite mutants, ripped right from the pages of Marvel Comics.

Alexandra Shipp has some huge hopes for her 'X-Men' character Storm

One of those characters is Storm, with Alexandra Shipp stepping back into the role following her debut in 'X-Men: Apocalypse' back in 2016. Playing a younger version of Storm than those we have seen in the past, audiences warmed to Shipp and her portrayal immediately, with renewed calls for the character to get her own solo movie at some point in the future.

Director Bryan Singer announced the addition of Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan and Alexandra Shipp to the cast on Thursday.

Some breaking superhero movie news: director Bryan Singer has unveiled casting details for three characters in his forthcoming project X-Men: Apocalypse. Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan and Alexandra Shipp will all play younger versions of three of the mythology’s most popular characters.

Singer, who is already attached for the eighth instalment in the popular movie franchise, tweeted the casting announcements on Thursday. The biggest news is the inclusion of Turner, famous for her portrayal of the tormented Sansa Stark on ‘Game Of Thrones’, who will be playing a younger version of the ultra-telepathic Jean Grey. That makes her the second ‘Game of Thrones’ star to also feature in the franchise – Peter Dinklage played the baddie in last year’s Days of Future Past.

Zendaya Coleman finally spoke out about her exit from the biopic project.

After Zendaya Coleman dropped out of Lifetime’s Aaliyah biopic, her replacement has finally been announced. And the winner is... drumroll please... Alexandra Shipp. The announcement was made on Friday and led to another surge of attention directed at Zendaya. So the young star felt the need to address certain rumours and did so in a series of Instagram videos – as you do.

“Let me just explain something. The reason why I chose not to do the Aaliyah movie had nothing to do with the haters or the people telling me I couldn’t do it, I wasn’t talented enough, or I wasn’t black enough,” she said about the backlash that followed her own casting announcement.

Wendy Williams has announced Zendaya Coleman's replacement on the Aaliyah movie.

Alexandra Shipp will play Aaliyah in an upcoming biopic about the chart topping singer whose life was cut short in a tragic plane crash in 2001. Wendy Williams, one of the executive producers of the project, announced Shipp as the lead on Friday.

Zendaya Coleman has left the Aaliyah project

"I'm excited to exec produce the Aaliyah @lifetimetv movie w/ @DebraMChase," Williams wrote. "Prod starts later this month and @AlexShipppp will play Aaliyah."
