American sports star Alex Rodriguez reportedly comforted Lady GaGa ahead of her hip surgery last week (begs12Feb13) after recently undergoing a similar procedure.

The Poker Face hitmaker cancelled the remainder of her Born This Way Ball tour earlier this month (Feb13) after being diagnosed with synovitis, a severe inflammation of the joints, and a labral tear of her right hip.

She had an appointment with doctor Bryan Kelly at New York's Hospital for Special Surgery last week, and while there she bumped into baseball ace Rodriguez, who was awaiting a own check-up after undergoing an operation on his left hip in January (13).

While sitting in the waiting room together, the New York Yankees player soothed Gaga's nerves.

A source tells the New York Post, "Alex was at Dr. Kelly's office for a follow-up, while Gaga was preparing for surgery. It's natural for anyone to be nervous ahead of this type of surgery, especially as a performer or athlete under tremendous pressure to make a quick recovery and be back at peak performance... Gaga was anxious, but Alex talked to her for a while and was able to reassure her."

Meanwhile, Gaga, who underwent surgery on Wednesday (20Feb13), is already on the rebound.

Shortly after her operation, she thanked fans for their well wishes in a post on her website, writing, "You really gave me a lot of strength today. Everything happened so fast, but when it came time to face it I reflected on the many stories and experiences you've shared with me about your lives."
