Introduction:

Alesha Dixon (born October 7, 1978) is an English singer, songwriter, television personality, and author. She first gained prominence as a member of the girl group Mis-Teeq, known for hits like "Scandalous" and "All I Want." Following the group’s breakup, Alesha pursued a solo music career and became a household name as a television presenter and judge on shows like "Strictly Come Dancing" and "Britain's Got Talent."

Early Life and Background:
Alesha Anjanette Dixon was born in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, to a Jamaican father and an English mother. She grew up as one of seven children, with two half-brothers and a half-sister on her mother’s side, and three half-brothers on her father’s side.

Alesha attended Monks Walk School, where she excelled academically and athletically. Initially, she planned to become a PE teacher and earned a place at Loughborough University. However, her career path changed when a record producer discovered her on a train and encouraged her to pursue music. In 1999, she joined the West London dance academy ‘Dance Attic,’ where she met Sabrina Washington. Alongside Su-Elise Nash and Zena McNally, the three formed the R&B and garage group Mis-Teeq.

Music Career:

After Zena McNally left the group, the trio released their debut album, Lickin' On Both Sides (2001), which produced hit singles like "All I Want" and "One Night Stand." Their sophomore album, Eye Candy (2003), featured the international hit "Scandalous," which achieved widespread success, particularly in the US.

Following Mis-Teeq's disbandment in 2005 due to the closure of Telstar Records, Alesha signed a solo deal with Polydor Records. Her debut solo album, Fired Up, included singles like "Lipstick" and "Knockdown" but faced limited commercial success. In 2007, she parted ways with Polydor but retained the rights to her music.

In 2008, Alesha released her breakthrough solo album, The Alesha Show, under Asylum Records. The album included hits such as "The Boy Does Nothing" and "Breathe Slow," with the latter earning her a BRIT Award nomination. Her subsequent albums, The Entertainer (2010) and Do It for Love (2015), showcased her versatility as an artist.
