The star got off easy, by promising to stay out of trouble for the next half year.
Alec Baldwin was in court on Tuesday, facing charges of disorderly conduct for an incident back in May, when he confronted a couple of cops, after riding his bike the wrong way in the traffic on Fifth Avenue. According to TMZ, Baldwin had not toned down his act for the courtroom. During the proceedings, he reportedly referred to NYC as “an unmanaged carnival of stupidity.”
Looks like Baldwin is off the hook for his New York mishap.
Despite his outburst, Baldwin might end up on the winning end of the trial, after he said in court that he’d rather pay a fine than apologize for berating the police officers.

Stritch will be missed by friends, family and fans, who just loved to watch her go.
Elaine Stritch, the Broadway star and all-round kick-ass lady, passed away on Thursday at the age of 89. Stritch was known for her long and storied Broadway career. Stritch started her Broadway career with Loco in 1946, but was only given minor and understudy roles for several years before having getting what would turn out to be her big break with Noel Coward’s Sail Away in 1961. She was originally cast as the leading lady’s understudy, but replaced her full time, when it turned out that the other actress’ voice was too operatic for the part.
The actress is survived by seven nieces and nephews and their families.
Since then, Stritch has been dropping truth bombs on stage, film and television. Her best known recent stage work was at the New York Public Theater in 2001 and on Broadway in 2002 with Elaine Stritch on Liberty – a one-woman show, which received rave reviews and earned the Tony for Best Special Theatrical Event. TV fans may recognize her as the the sharp-tongued mother of Alec Baldwin’s Jack Donaghy. She won her third Emmy award for that one.

Sandra Bullock's stalker allegedly had a notebook filled with pictures of the actress and writings suggesting he had been watching her house for days before he broke into her Hollywood home. Bullock was awoken on 8th June to discover a man outside her bedroom door and recently obtained documents show the extent of Joshua Corbett's obsession with the 'Gravity' actress.
A series of search warrants obtained by a US entertainment website detail the terrifying encounter actress Sandra Bullock endured when a stalker broke into her house at the beginning of June.

Once you get involved in a Hollywood scandal, it’s not easy to pull yourself out - Gary Oldman is finding this out the hard way. After his controversial interview in Playboy, wherein he criticised Hollywood’s “political correctness gone mad” and stood by Alec Baldwin and Mel Gibson for their racist and homophobic remarks. A choice quote from the interview: “I don’t know about Mel. He got drunk and said a few things, but we’ve all said those things. We’re all fucking hypocrites. That’s what I think about it.”
The Anti-Defamation League came down hard on Oldman's comments.
He then went on to use the same slurs that Gibson and Baldwin got busted for. Oldman later issued an apology of the “sorry you were offended” variety.
Alec Baldwin's in trouble again. But how does his recent outburst fare against some of his previous Baldwin-esque escapades?
We keep trying to stick up for Alec Baldwin, but dude just keeps fluffing it up! Baldwin was arrested on Tuesday for riding his bicycle the wrong direction down a one-way street in New York City. Sounds sensible. On top of that (and probably our favourite part), he was doing so while behaving “in a violent, threatening manner” toward the police.
Alec Baldwin, pictured with his wife Hilaria, was arrested for riding his bike against traffic in NYC
There’s no report of Baldwin being under the influence while behaving in this particularly odd manner (also it was 10am in the morning), so we can assume that his thought process was thus: “I AM ALEC BALDWIN.” By imagining that’s pretty much all that he ever thinks in a repetitive and forcefully self-assured manner is how we regularly accept his Baldwin-esque behaviour.

The incident lead to another one of Baldwin's trademark Twitter rants.
Why, Alec Baldwin? Just why? In another Baldwin story that might get your weirdness senses tingling, the controversial actor has been arrested in New York for illegal biking. As in a real bike – handlebars, gears, pedals, etc. According to TMZ, which was first to report the story, Baldwinwas detained in New York City Tuesday morning after riding his bike the wrong way on Fifth Avenue and 16th street. Apparently, his arrest was due, at least in part, to the fact that he didn’t have his ID on him at the time.
Alec and Hilaria Baldwin have been keeping a low profile since his outburst last summer.
Baldwin was then taken to the police station and was later issued a ticket for disorderly conduct, which was apparently prompted by his hostility to the police officers. The story could have ended there, but this is Alec Baldwin, so of course, it didn’t. Baldwin, who took a break from Twitter back in 2013 and deleted his personal account, took to his Alec Baldwin Foundation twitter to air his opinion.

Piers Morgan has criticised the US government for quailing under pressure from the gun lobby. Morgan delivered an impassioned speech on the last episode of his CNN show 'Piers Morgan Live'.
Piers Morgan ended his three year run on his CNN talk show Piers Morgan Live on Friday (28th March) with a plea to the US government to change "the absurd gun laws".Morgan's show was cancelled following low ratings and possibly his involvement in the phone hacking scandal, nevertheless he left the show on a somewhat controversial note.
Morgan, ever controversial, used his final show as an opportunity to comment on the social and political implications of gun laws in the US. He referenced recent tragedies in which guns were used to kill large numbers of people which prompted criticism of gun laws in the US and worldwide.
Morgan has spent a number of years in the states over the past decade and described gun violence, such as that displayed in the Connecticut Sandy Hook massacre and the Colorado Aurora Cinema, as "a disease that infects every aspect of American life". Referencing these attacks Morgan said, as The Independent reports: "I assumed that after 70 people were shot in a movie theatre and then just a few months later 20 first-graders were murdered with an assault rifle in an elementary school, that the absurd gun laws in this country would change, but nothing has happened".

Alec Baldwin hasn't always been painted in such a positive light by the press, but there are definitely reasons to love the critically acclaimed actor.
There’s a lot of Alec Baldwin bashing going round. We’re not claiming that he’s Mr. Lovable, but we do think it’s time to give the guy a break, particularly now that he's announced his plans to retire from public life. He does have some outrageously redeeming features, and while he may not win the Nobel Peace Prize, or become an ambassador for the UN, anytime soon, he’s not simply the ‘bad guy’ that the press would have us all believe that he is.
There are plenty of reasons to love Alex Baldwin
For starters, did you know Alec is a huge supporter of PETA as well as a dedicated animal rights activist? He’s also a manatee fanatic (who isn’t?) and has supported the Save the Manatees club, recording public service announcements for the organization. His dedication to the manatee cause won him a guest role on The Simpsons episode ‘Bonfire of the Manatees’. Along with all his good work protecting the manatees, Alec is also a vegetarian, which means he practices what he preaches - this makes Alec Baldwin a rare gem in this world.

No details about how he plans to achieve it.
Alec Baldwin seems to have ended his love affair with New York City. Or would that be MSNBC? Or public life in general? Regardless, Baldwin seems to be fed up with all of it, if his candid essay, published on Vulture, is anything to go by. In the essay, Baldwin recounts all the ways in which 2013 was “pretty awful”, starting with the accusations of homophobia that came his way early in the year.
Baldwin seemed to be on a collision course for most of 2013.
Baldwin has a bit of ire reserved for almost everyone – MSNBC, Rachel Maddow, Shia LaBeouf – no one is safe from his wrath. He goes on to explain how his clashing with LaBeouf sabotaged his return to theater and how later in the year, his talk show was relegated to MSNBC, even though Baldwin wanted to do in on NBC instead. It’s a long read. Even despite the inevitable inaccuracies, it’s still interesting to read Baldwin’s point of view on the whole debacle – and he certainly isn’t shy about sharing it.

Alec Baldwin addresses being branded as homophobic, how New York has changed, and states he is now officially leaving public life, in a candid essay published in New York Magazine's Vulture.

The 55 year-old actor has penned a candid essay, published in New York Magazine's Vulture, where he moans about life in the public eye and how the Big Apple has changed.

Michael Keaton has revealed he had been in contact with Tim Burton about reprising his role as Beetlejuice in the sequel to the 1988 comedy.
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetle... For fans of the 1988 comedy, repeating the name of the mischievous bio-exorcist three times is not something one should take lightly. Especially if you're dead! Although Beetlejuice has been banished to the waiting room of death, he may be heading back to earth as Michael Keaton has revealed he is in contact with Tim Burton, the original film's director.
Keaton starred as Beetlejuice in the 1988 supernatural comedy, centred on a deceased couple who attempt to regain possession of their house once a living family move in. Geena Davies and Alec Baldwin play the ghostly couple who request Beetlejuice's help and after a number of complications, including Beetlejuice's attempted elopement with the family's daughter (Winona Ryder), successfully regain control of their home. Ryder is also rumoured to be reprising her role.
Keaton, speaking to MTV, discussed the possibility of a second film at the Robocop junket in Los Angeles on Thursday (13th February). Although rumours of a sequel have been circulating since 2012 when it was revealed Seth Grahame-Smith was working on a script for Beetlejuice 2, Keaton has not mentioned the possibility of his involvement before. In the interview he said "I've e-mailed Tim a couple of times, talked to the writer a couple of times, but all really, really preliminary stuff. I always said that's the one thing I'd like to do again, if I ever did anything again. But it kind of required Tim to be involved some way or another."

"What's your favorite Woody Allen movie? Before you answer, you should know: when I was seven years old, Woody Allen took me by the hand and led me into a dim, closet-like attic on the second floor of our house," writes Dylan. What was the real reason behind Baldwin's departure from MSNBC? Reports are still unconfirmed.
Alec Baldwin has worked with MSNBC for so long that it’s difficult to imagine the network without him. Unfortunately, we’ll be forced to, as his show, Up Late, will not be continuing with the network, as per a joint statement released by MSNBC and Baldwin’s rep Matthew Hitzik. According to USA Today, MSNBC has also released a statement clarifying that it was a "mutual parting and we wish Alec all the best.”
The supposed reasons behind Baldwin's firing sound fairly obvious.
While the official statement only refers to the cancellation of Up Late, according to other reports, apparently originating from Page Six, the reason behind the cancellation was twofold – bad ratings and Baldwin’s troublesome public image. This claim seems to contradict the additional statement about the decision being "mutual."

He may profess his liberalism, but Alec Baldwin rarely does himself any favours when trying to cover up his apparent homophobia. His latest rant that could be perceived as homophobic came as he gave he explained his recent dismissal from MSNBC following an altercating with a paparazzo during his consuming court case against an alleged stalker of his.
Baldwin surrounded by his natural enemy
As is the norm for Baldwin, he was confronted by paparazzi outside his New York City home, where he supposedly referred to one as a "c**ksucking fag," with his actions being caught on camera and his comments being recorded too. With the press reacting angrily to the comments, MSNBC were forced to take action and severed their ties with the actor and political commentator, with the New York Post first reporting his dismissal, citing more than just his outburst with the paps for his dismissal.

After the week looked to be coming to an ideal ending, with the successful prosecution of his alleged stalker Genevieve Sabourin, Baldwin soon found himself on the defensive once again as the allegations of homophobia came flying in. In his latest explanation, the actor goes on to describe his dismay at having his show pulled from the air for a two week period, as well as further pleading his innocence and damning the power of the paparazzi in New York.

Genevieve Sabourin is currently being held in a prison cell for contempt of court during the actor's opening statement
Alec Baldwin broke down in tears when he took to the stand earlier this week to testify against Genevieve Sabourin, the woman he is alleging had stalked him and harassed both him and his wife for years. On Wednesday, 13 November, it was Genevieve's time to take to the stand at the Manhattan Criminal Court and give her side of the story, one that was significantly different to the account Alec had given earlier.
The aspiring French-Canadian actress claims that her affair with Alec began in February 2010, when the actor escorted her on a romantic, day-long date around New York City, which was followed by months of letter exchanges that suggested Baldwin had genuine feelings for Sabourin. The 41-year-old defendant went on to describe a month-long telephone correspondance between the two, one that was heavy with flirting, which eventually led to the pair meeting up in the Big Apple, the New York Times reports.
“He’s a professional charmer, he’s the best in the world,” she told the court, reminiscing the supposed meet-up they had. She claimed that their weekend together began with a drive through Central Park, after which Baldwin took her to see a popular Broadway play before heading to the glitzy Elio’s Restaurant, where they shared an intimate meal. Sabourin then claimed that the night ended when he took her to the Hotel Lowell, where the two had sexual intercourse, she claims. She testified, “It was a beautiful, romantic evening.”
The Canadian actress claims to be Baldwin's ex-girlfriend.
Alec Baldwin has been in court lately defending himself from the claims of a Canadian woman accused of stalking the actor. Genevieve Sabourin, 41, alleges that she and Baldwin had a relationship but their romance fell apart, according to CNN. She is charged with stalking Baldwin and his wife Hilaria which consisted of leaving up to 30 voicemail messages per night, crashing events, turning up at their apartment and sending a string of tweets and emails.

He claims that she inundated him with tweets and emails and even claims that she has shown up at his home and harassed his wife in the past.
On the contrary, Sabourin says that she has history with Baldwin, claiming to have met the actor in 2002, before having dinner with him in 2010. She also claims to have slept with the actor at some point in the supposed period of knowing each other, something that Alec vehemently denies.

Anyone interested in how movies get made will love this feisty behind-the-scenes documentary, which uses sharp comedy to explore the messy business side of cinema. Both smart and very funny, it may not tell us much that we don't know (mainly that it's almost impossible to get a film financed unless it's a blockbuster with bankable stars), but it reveals things in ways that make us wonder about the future of the movies.
The film follows actor Alec Baldwin and director James Toback as they head to the Cannes Film Festival to secure funding for their planned Iraq-set riff on Last Tango in Paris. They meet with a variety of experts who tell them that their hoped-for budget is three times too high for a movie starring Baldwin and Neve Campbell. So they talk to Chastain, Bejo and Kruger about taking over the lead role. They also consult with a range of prominent filmmakers including Scorsese, Coppola, Polanski and the Last Tango maestro himself, Bertolucci. But the more time they spend with the people who control the money, the more they wonder if their movie will ever get made.
It's fairly clear from the start that Last Tango in Tikrit is a joke project, but everyone takes it seriously. And as they talk to prospective investors, Baldwin and Toback consider adjusting the film to get more cash by, for example, shooting scenes in Russia or China. It's fascinating to hear these billionaires offer advice on how to get their movie made. And hilariously, no one worries about Baldwin's insistence that the story requires explicit sexual scenes.

The first-time host was given a few pointers by the veterans of the comedy sketch show.
Ed Norton isn't exactly known for his comedic chops, so when he appeared as host on this week's Saturday Night Live - the first time he has hosted the long-running show - he was happy to take all the help he could get. It was a good think that show veteran Alec Baldwin and recent host Miley Cyrus were on hand to dish out some advice for him as he burst his SNL cherry.
Norton made his debut on the show
It was a great lead in to the show - one that could have been better if it wasn't for Cyrus' poorly received butting-in and tongue joke - as the three joked around, shared tips (Alec is a 15-time presenter on the show) and plugged whatever new ventures they have on the horizon (for Baldwin, it was his new MSNBC show, whilst Miley talked about her 2014 tour). And for such an amusing lead, the show even managed to keep up the funny until the end, a sad rarity for recent shows.
