The Easy A actress is reportedly in talks to replace Michelle Williams in the Broadway revival of Cabaret. After conquering the big screen and thousands of internet folks’ hearts, it looks like Stone is skipping television to move directly into theatre.

Prepare to have all your entertainment dreams come true.

Stone was being considered for the starring role before the production launched, but Williams was chosen for the part instead. Now Stone might get her chance after all, as The New York Times reports that the star is in talks to replace Williams this fall. The news was officially confirmed by reps for the production soon after.

The multi-million selling rapper Jay-Z aimed to combine and rap and modern art this week, performing his new track 'Picasso Baby' for six consecutive hours at Chelsea's Pace Gallery in New York. Confused? Well, the lengthy 'secret' performance was used both to shoot Hova's new video and to promote his new album 'Magna Carta Holy Grail.'

Though the performance was kept hush-hush, it didn't take invited guests long to post videos and pictures to Vine, Instagram and Twitter. According to the New York Post's report, Jay-Z was entertaining the likes of, "Judd Apatow, Adam Driver, Cynthia Rowley, George Condo and others" reportedly "serenading Alan Cumming, and dancing around Marina Abramovic, Performa founder RoseLee Goldberg and even a woman on a scooter with her leg in a cast."

The marathon performance, shot by film director Mark Romanek, centred on the rapper's arty track 'Picasso Baby,' which includes the lyrics, "I just want a Picasso, in my casa . . . I wanna Rothko, no I wanna brothel," as well as referencing "Jeff Koons balloons" and "[George] Condos in my condos."

The Daily Mail has taken down its story regarding Anne Hathaway joining the Broadway show cabaret and now., E! News reports that the rumors are most likely false. Anne’s rep contacted E! to say “it’s not true,” which is a shame, really because after she showed off what a lovley set of pipes she has on her, in Les Miserables, we can’t think of anything better than watching Hathaway getting her Sally Bowles on and doing a turn in Cabaret.

Although the original report has ben taken offline, E! News say that it claimed Anne Hathaway would star in the musical, alongside Alan Cumming, who won a Tony award for his role in the musical back in 1989. However, it looks as though the Anne Hathaway / Liza Minnelli comparisons are going to have to end at the pixie cut because her rep seems keen to put an end to this particular rumor.

A Guardian report suggests that the Daily Mail at least got the Alan Cumming element of the story right; he will be reprising the role of the Emcee, having alluded to it briefly in a recent interview: I’m doing another show on Broadway after The Good Wife season ends. It starts rehearsals the day after my 49th birthday, so I'll be entering my 50th year dancing my tits off and being a sexpot.” Although he didn’t mention the production by name, he did confirm “It's something I did before and we're doing it again.”

Tony and Olivier Award winning Alan Cumming stars in a new Broadway production of Shakespeare's Macbeth, which has garnered strong reviews following its opening show at the Barrymore Theatre. The supporting cast includes Jenny Sterlin and Brendan Titley, though critics focused the majority of their praise for Cumming, star of 'Cabaret' and 'The Good Wife.'

Directed by John Tiffany, himself a Tony winner for 'Once' and Andrew Goldberg, The National Theatre of Scotland's Macbeth is set in a clinical room deep within a dark psychiatric unit. This is not a straight retelling of Shakespeare's masterpiece. Cumming plays the lone patient, reliving the infamous story and inhabiting each of the roles himself. Orwellian camera watch the patient's every move, while the technical aspects of the show see the walls of the psychiatric ward come to the life in a visually stunning experience. 

The New York Times' Charles Isherwood was among those praising Cumming's considerable ability, writing, "Watching him perform this personalized rendition of "Macbeth," I was at times more intrigued by the battle going on between the serious actor and the shameless entertainer than I was by the tense struggles taking place in the divided mind of Macbeth." Mark Kennedy of the Associated Press agreed, saying, "If it's not clear by now, what Cumming is doing at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre is delivering a tour-de-force that redefines the term...While there is no doubt about Cumming's ability - he cowers, he acts menacing, he strips down, he leaps in and out of a full bathtub and smears himself in gore - there is a feeling that while this is an act of Olympic skill, it's also partly a freak show."

When Brad Paisley and LL Cool J made waves recently with their eyebrow raising “Accidental Racist”, you can bet the parodies weren’t far behind. And what’s public embarrassment without Stephen Colbert? For one thing, it’s not as fun.

On Wednesday’s The Colbert Report, the comedian performed a spoof of the track, aptly titled “Oopsie Daisie Homophobe." Alan Cumming guests on the track as the LL to Colbert’s Paisley and does one heck of a job of it. The parody’s simplistic lyrics highlight the original insipid ideas about race and class separation and, as with any Colbert production, they make you laugh at the same time. And let’s not forget that little bit of social commentary sprinkled in for good measure – since homophobia is another pressing issue in America today, Colbert managed to kill too birds with one stone, turning Paisley’s head-scratchingly poor judgement into a funny bit of entertainment trivia. Sadly, if you missed it, that’s it. Unlike a lot of videos from The Colbert report, the video isn’t available for streaming on Comedy Central – at least not yet.

Hopefully, that’s enough closure for everybody, who heard the original track and now we can all move on to the next celebrity blunder. Maybe one with fewer tinges of bigotry this time.

It may have just been poor judgement from Paisley, but Colbert turned it into some good entertainment.

Beloved actress Liza Minnelli celebrated her 67th in style.

The Broadway veteran didn’t just have a party like any old celebrity, she marked the occasion with a special one-off performance alongside another staple of the Big White Way, Alan Cumming. The pair performed a number of famous duets on Wednesday, before dashing off to celebrate elsewhere. The show, which was just the first of a pair of gigs at NY Town Hall, reprised Liza and Alan’s cabaret-like performance at a Fire Island nightclub last summer.

Of course, the infamous Cabaret was performed (making us musical theatre fans extremely jealous of the ticket holders) and the entire show turned into a Cabaret reunion of sorts. But this time, the roles were reversed, as Cumming took on Liza’s part in Mein Herr, which is one of the best-known numbers Sally Bowles (Liza Minnelli) performs in the original musical, while she herself sang the traditionally male Willkommen. Overall, the night was a lot of fun for both fans and performers. "We're just crazy about each other," Minnelli told Reuters after the show. "It felt very intimate, like being with a bunch of friends." After the intimate performance, Liza managed to out-party any of her younger colleagues, alongside a group of close friends at New York’s Copacabana.
