Just a couple of weeks away from finishing her latest massive world tour Adele has revealed that she would be perfectly happy if she never had to hit the road again, in an interview that also saw her open up about her previous battles with depression.

The 28 year old multi-million-selling singer released her third album, 25, almost exactly a year ago, and it has achieved diamond status in the United States in less than 12 months. However, as she nears the end of her Adele Live 2016 world tour, she told Vanity Fair that she would be content to never appear on a stage again – although she’d continue to make music.

“I’d still like to make records, but I’d be fine if I never heard [the applause] again. I’m on tour simply to see everyone who’s been so supportive. I don’t care about money.”

The ten-time Grammy winner also revealed that she has struggled throughout her life with depression, which started with the death of her grandfather when she was a child. She also spoke about how she suffered from postpartum (also known as post-natal) depression following the birth of her son, Angelo, now four years old.

“I have a very dark side. I’m very available to depression. I can slip in and out of it quite easily. It started when my grandad died, when I was about ten, and while I never had a suicidal thought, I have been in therapy, lots.

“But I haven’t had that feeling since I had my son and snapped out of my postpartum depression,” she added. “I had really bad postpartum depression after I had my son, and it frightened me. My knowledge of postpartum… is that you don’t want to be with your child; you’re worried you might hurt your child; you’re worried you weren’t doing a good job.

“But I was obsessed with my child. I felt very inadequate; I felt like I’d made the worst decision of my life. It can come in many different forms.”
