You wait forty years for a new Abba track and then three come along in quick succession. Following the release of the double a-side single - 'I Still Have Faith In You/Don't Shut Me Down' in September; ABBA have now released their latest track - 'Just A Notion'.
All three of ABBA's new tracks will feature on their new album 'Voyage', the band's follow-up to 'The Visitors'. The ten track record will be released on November 5th, just a few weeks shy of forty years since 'The Visitors' was released on November 30th 1981.
In the intervening four decades since they last released any new material ABBA's popularity has seemingly not waned at all, if anything it may have even grown bigger with age. The enduring quality of the well written, expertly crafted pop songs, plus the 'Mamma Mia' films and musicals, has kept ABBA in the limelight and brought their songs to a new generation of avid listeners.
The almost insatiable appetite for new ABBA music has resulted in the accompanying video for their first release this century realising more than 25 million views on YouTube alone. Clearly the passing of time has not diminished the craving to see Benny, Björn, Agnetha and Anni-Frid sing.
To coincide with the release of 'Voyage' ABBA are also appearing virtually. The Swedes will appear as digital versions, or avatars of themselves when they perform in front of a live audience. The ABBAtars have been specially created by George Lucas' (Star Wars) Industrial Light and Magic company by a team of 850 people working over several months.
Taking up residency in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London, the ABBAtars of Anni-Fred, Agnetha, Benny and Björn will perform their new material, and their greatest hits, accompanied by a live 10-piece band in the specially constructed 'ABBA Arena'. ABBA have invited their fans to - "Join us for a concert 40 years in the making. A concert that combines the old and new, the young and not-so-young. A concert that has brought all four of us together again."
Demand for the 'live' shows has been so great that a further release of new tickets for new dates will be added from the 3rd November, just two days prior to the release of their new album! Grab yours before it's too late.
