50 has pleaded not guilty, but it seems the case might drag on for quite some time.
The story of 50 Cent’s domestic violence charges has been going on since June, when the artist was accused by an unnamed woman (allegedly the mother of his child) of entering her home and abusing her. Now, almost two months later, the rapper has pleaded not guilty in the case raised by the woman, who has now been named as model Daphne Joy. Even so, prior to any conviction, the court has instituted a restraining order on the rapper, forbidding him from coming within 100 yards of Joy, as well as requesting that he turn in all his guns. That makes it sound like 50 has an arsenal stashed somewhere in his home, but considering, well, any of his lyrics, would anyone be too surprised, if that was the case?
50 pleaded not guilty.
It seems that the legal trouble for the rapper is far from over. According to TMZ, on his way out of LA court earlier today, 50 was served with a stack of “legal papers” – exactly what those consisted of, was unknown. However, according to a tip the website got from the process server, whatever the papers were, they related to the case. And if we’ve learned anything from Boston Legal and their ilk, it’s that lots of papers usually means lots of trouble.
Even so, he has been served with a restraining order.
The case was started after the rapper, real name Curtis Jackson III, invaded the home of Daphne Joy earlier this year, reportedly kicking the woman and, according to police reports destroying a large amount of property. Jackson will be back in court next month.
Even so, the case will continue next month.
