Everyone says things when they're young that they regret as they get older, but when you're a popular public figure sometimes that can come back and bite you. Zoe Sugg, known online as Zoella, has been lambasted for comments she made on social media in her late teens and early twenties.

The 27-year-old YouTube personality comes across as a sweet and innocent, tee-total, make-up lover who has struggled with serious anxiety issues since she was a teen. But there are some people that are determined to taint that wholesome image by digging up extremely old Tweets that she posted aged 19 and 20 that included homophobic and fat-shaming slurs.

Zoe Sugg, the vlogger behind the 'Zoella' channel, tweeted her thanks to her legions of followers on Tuesday morning.
YouTube sensation Zoella has celebrated another landmark – reaching eight million subscribers! Her channel ticked over the big number over Monday night, as the vlogger-turned-entrepreneur took to social media to thank her fans.
Real name Zoe Sugg, 25, expressed her excitement and gratitude via Twitter on Tuesday morning, writing “Woken up to see I have 8 million subscribers! Can’t even express how grateful I am and how happy you all make me. Thank you so much guys.” Hundreds of her fans were sending their congratulations too, using the hashtag #CongratsOn8MillionZoe which soon dominated Twitter.

Beauty vlogger Zoe Sugg has sold 78,000 copies of her book 'Girl Online', a British record for a debut.
YouTube sensation Zoella is beginning to make serious waves in the literary world too, with the news that her debut novel has become the fastest-selling first book by any author. ‘Girl Online’ has also become the fastest selling novel of 2014 in the UK, selling in excess of 78,000 copies in its first week.
Zoella, the online pseudonym of 24 year old Zoe Sugg, nominally runs a YouTube channel that provides beauty and lifestyle advice to teens. She set up her channel in 2009 and, as of December 2014, has 6.6 million subscribers, the 60th most popular channel on the entire site.
