Zachary Quinto has ''a lot of admiration'' for Caitlyn Jenner.

The 38-year-old actor admits he has developed ''an appreciation'' for the Olympian - who was previously known as Bruce Jenner - and her family, including stepdaughter Kim Kardashian West, after watching how they dealt with her decision to undergo gender transition earlier this year.

Asked if he is a fan of the reality TV stars, the 'Star Trek' star said: ''If you had asked me that a few months ago, I would have been dismissive. But I have a lot of admiration for Caitlyn Jenner. And to the extent the family is reflective of it - I can't believe I'm saying this - I have more of an appreciation.''

Zachary, who is dating model Miles McMillian, is an advocate for gay marriage, but believes the battle against ''bigoted hatred'' isn't over even though it was recently legalised across the US.

He said: ''The battle for acceptance, against bigoted hatred, is not over yet. I do think the gay-rights movement is evolving into transgender-equality movement.''

The 'Hitman: Agent 47' star is currently enjoying a well-earned break and is learning how to take time off.

He told America's InStyle magazine: ''I used to prefer to be busy. In retrospect, I am recognising the value and need for space and time between experiences.

''I'm settling into a normal East Village [NYC] routine. I take my two terriers for a walk in the morning, get coffee, ride my bike. There's no shortage of amazing restaurants.''
