Seinfeld fans can breathe easy after panic ensued following rumors of Wayne Knight’s death on social media site Twitter. The rumors claimed that the 58 year old had been involved in a fatal car crash, although Knight took the site himself to straighten things out, “Some of you will be glad to hear this, others strangely disappointed, but...I am alive and well!” before commenting, “Does someone have to DIE to trend? Geez! Thanks for all the love everybody. I didn’t know you cared. Glad to be breathing!”

wayne knight death rumoursWayne Knight took to Twitter to explain he isn't dead

We’re glad that Wayne was able to see the funny side of his death hoax, we guess that he is a comedian, so we'd be worried if he didn't! We wonder if these other celebs took their own death hoaxes so lightly.

While Paris Hilton was serving time for violating probation back in 2007, a rumor circulated that the heiress had died.  SPOILER: she hadn't.  Another rumour spread in 2012 that she had died in a car crash. There seems to be a lot of people out there who really want the world to think that Paris Hilton is dead!

“Who lurrrrvvveesss orange soda?” D’ya’ll remember that absolutely everyone was convinced that Kel Mitchell from Kenan and Kel was dead? Rumors spread across MySpace in 2006, although fortunately that’s all they were. “Kel Mitchell dead” is still the second most searched for term on Google when you type in the actor's name. Just drop it, you guys, let Kel live in peace!

In 2006 the rumor mill churned with news that Will Ferrell had died after being involved in an para-gliding accident in Torey Pines, California. The rumor was so detailed that it even claimed Ferrell had been with his “professional guide, Horacio Gomez” as well as inventing imaginary witnesses. Seriously, who has the time to think this stuff up?

will ferrell death hoaxWill Ferrell's death hoax was extremely elaborate

Zach Braff, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Eminem are just a few of the other celebrities who have been victims of online death hoaxes. The preferred method used by the initial ‘hoaxer’ seems to be violent fatal car crashes, so at least Will Ferrell can be pleased that his was a little more inventive!

You lot are a morbid bunch, always starting up rumours that celebs have died! Why don’t we start a happy rumour, like that Justin Bieber has reformed and is joining a monastery hidden away in the Spanish countryside where no one will ever see or hear from him again? Yeah, that’s right, let’s go with that one.
