Review of Won't Get Up Again EP by Young Rebel Set

Following on from two self-released singles last year North-east outfit Young Rebel Set bring out this collection to bridge the gap until their debut album. Now nearing the end of a run of UK shows, the summer sees them playing across Europe.

Young Rebel Set Won't Get Up Again EP

With the indie scene somewhat stale at this moment in time, Young Rebel Set's growing reputation could be down to a lack of competition, but on the evidence of 'Won't Get Up Again' the hype could well be justified. A stirring mid-tempo anthem, it develops gradually into a lovely sing-a-long that has much to admire. Supporting number 'Fall Hard' has similar qualities and some teasing guitar work, while the beautiful 'Bagatelle' is a simple acoustic number and 'Rosie' is a folk ditty which displays concise lyrical ability. Impressive and confident, this EP acts as a tantalising taster for the band's album.
