Jono Kirkham and Gav Parry make up Australian synth pop duo YesYou who have released a unique little video for their brand new track 'Half Of It' which is taken from their upcoming EP set for release in November.
The video is made up of several grainy clips from people's old home/vacation movies found on a second-hand market stall that have been that have been speeded up and occasionally rewinded throughout the song. The lyrics tell the story of a failing relationship; two people drifting apart and deciding it's easier to let go rather than talk things through. It's a nice contrast to the clip which essentially represents holding on to the past. It has great dream-pop elements to it making a particularly easy-listening tune and has an extremely catchy chorus. The use of synths on the track is somewhat classical and not overdone.
Their forthcoming EP has sent a flicker of anticipation in Australia where they are praised as particularly innovative, especially with their production and writing work for electro rockers DZ Deathrays and afro/dream pop band Jinja Safari. They have also been well acclaimed for their stunning live performances as a four piece band and have supported the likes of Neon Indian and Electric Guest on their shows.
