Director Woody Allen has silenced reports he is quitting his beloved New York City to live in London, after purchasing a $25.9 million (GBP14.3 million) Manhattan townhouse.

The Match Point filmmaker's new home, designed and built in 1901, boasts 16 rooms, including five bedrooms, a library, a media room, a Georgian staircase and 10 fireplaces.

Allen is currently living in a rented, single-family residence at Madison Avenue and 85th Street for $25,000 (GBP13,900) a month.
